Hôtel Panoramic, Hôtel Céleste, and Hôtel La Rencluse got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Luchon.
Lovely scenic location and very peaceful in the first half of June. Good restaurants though opening days were not always clear. Friendly staff. Good hiking facilities and not far from the Spanish border by car or bike! Petit Train ride was a little disappointing though.
Very quiet, lots of restaurants and bars closed. Lovely mountains surrounding. Lovely walk to Lac Oo. Shame the cable car was closed as we would have liked to go and walk on the ski slopes and didn’t want to drive.
Luchon is a lovely town with all facilities at hand. Beautiful park areas and walks around the town were delightful. Disappointing snow conditions meant we could not ski at all, but enjoyed proximity to Spain where we did a lot of shopping for cheap grog and cigarettes as well as take in some of the fantastic scenery in the Spanish Pyrenees.
It's authenticity, friendliness and facilities. It has no tackiness whatsoever and is quintessentially French. The market is great, there's lots of restaurants and the gondola to the skiing is right in the town centre.
"Faded Glory" sums it up, I feel. I can imagine it 60 years ago as a fashionable resort, but now there are a lot of poorly maintained buildings, many restaurants are closed or for sale, and while it is still difficult to park on the main street, it is about the only street with anything going for it. Having a car, we were able to drive over the pass into Spain where so many of the buildings were new and the visitors were probably an average of 30 years younger. We also visited the Hospice de France, 10km up the hill, where we had planned to do some walking, but it rained and the cloud came down!
Look, Luchon is alive during the day, we feel it through the noise of motards... the grand-father clock only wake up in the morning ate 8,oo o'clock. During the night it's a wonderfil silence, so it's very good to rest in peace. There, we have many, many good restaurants. Then how many chances to walk... places to go by bike or by car. You have the small "City train"... all the mountains around Luchon ( les Cols du Tour de France dans les Pyrénées... ). You are near Lourdes, Andorra, Toulouse... and also near Spain !... And in winter you have the chance for Skying...
Luchon
We love small hotels, with elegance and charm. This place exceeded expectations. Beautifully situated on a lovely small river, with a glorious view of the surrounding mountains. The room was a suite, beautifully furnished, exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a high quality bed and Yves deLorme linens (which in my opinion shows so much care for the clients). The hosts are a lovely couple, and Patrick was very interesting and informative about local history. He also made us a beautiful breakfast. Thank you for our wonderful stay!
Luchon
First, understand that this place is a “basic needs” room in the center of town. It is a cheap accommodation so don’t expect luxury. However, the reception guy was very nice. the space was small but adequate. there were ample outlets and a pretty view out the window. it was quiet at night and dogs are allowed so it was an inexpensive option for us and we dealt with the small space. there was plenty of instant hot water.
The apartment was spacious and clean. Very central to town for shopping. Lovely balcony facing the ski lift. Great open plan kitchen dining and lounge. Good sized bedroom with lots of storage. Lovely shower room including a washing machine. Underground car park was a bit tight but good. Michel was jolly and fun. Very accommodating. He did a great job. We would highly recommend
The hotel is well located for the town and access to the surrounding countryside. The proprietor welcomed us to the hotel and made every effort to ensure that we were satisfied with all that was on offer. The breakfast was good and wholesome with the ingredients we look for. We were very satisfied with our stay.
The Staff was exceptionally accommodating. The swimming pool was heaven on a hot day. The restaurant right next door had good food. We were happy to pay 10 euros for secure parking. The other members of my party were a couple and a 9-year old. They were pleased with their room as well.
Nice and simple hotel downtown Luchon. Very convenient. The room was confy and clean enough. The continental breakfast buffet was great. The people at the hotel were friendly.
Luchon is a good place to stay as a base for day tours hiking in that part of French Pyrenees. Apartment size ok. Kitchen part small but ok.
The hotel was central and the town was very nice and picturesque. The dinner was superb thanks to David the chef. The pool was a bonus.
Well run small hotel on the outskirts of luchon. Some nice touches and good breakfast.
