It is a charming town on a river. The old town is nice with the catherdral and the main square offering gastronomic experience with its many restaurants and cafés. The new city centre offers shopping facilities as well as restaurants and cafés. The citadelle is well worth climbing. There are wonderful forests around Belfort and fortresses to climb. There is a big lake with a park around and also a lake a bit further away, good for swimming as well. Belfort downtown is easy to walk around and visit. The surroundings offer countless and colorful possiblities of relaxing (hiking, biking, swimming, etc.). Do not miss out on it, if you are driving that way.

The citadelle is worth the trip alone: walking through the many passageways, all the way to the very top for a great viewpoint. Don't miss a visit to the lion!
We had a great dinner at Le Pot au Feu.
The old town is quaint and great to walk around.

Great flea market every first Sunday of the month which unfortunately finishes at 1pm?! (absurd). This would make for a great monthly rdvz which would be probably much more successful.
Great boulangerie L.François in the city center with amazing croissants.
The fort is impressive as the Lion de Belfort.
City activity is towards zero but it seems City Hall does not do as much to liven it up, i.e. the great flea market that finishes at lunch time. Here is an idea, hold in Saturday and until late in the evening with music and food, this will probably earn the city overnight stays as well.

It is a charming town not far from the Swiss and German borders. The old town is beautiful and the fortress is worth a visit. I have been to the city several times and I always am surprised pleasantly by this little town. It keeps developing and getting nicer. There are hills around it, there are lakes and many other things to see and visit. There are also good shopping possibilities nearby. One can find good food and coffee as well. The ice cream factory shop was this time a very pleasant discovery.

I was in Belfort just for a Stopover to Germany.
I was in Belfort just for a Stopover to Germany. Belfort seems to be a "normally" smaller town surrounded by an industrial area. I would guess that there is nothing special to see but I was just about an hour in the City Area of Belfort itself and that on a Sunday, so I might be wrong about this. The Hotel I booked was outside the City in that industrial area so just the next morning I took a short ride into the City Area of Belfort and it seemed to have a quite older and maybe really nice History ("Belle Fort") but apparently I did not have the time to have a look for that as I had to ride back to my Hometown in northern Germany.

Belfort for us was a transit stop for us but we wish we could have stayed longer when we arrived. Strategically located between the Rhine and Rhône Belfort is steeped in history and is actively making its history more accessible to visitors. A great walking town the Citadel and museum were all that we could fit in. The museum has an amazing collection of military memorabilia and a great display of material from the studio of Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the French sculptor who was born in Belfort but best known as the creator of the Statue of Liberty in New York. You cannot miss his huge stone Lion at the foot of the Citadel. Would highly recommend a minimum of three days.
It has a good location, near the shops and 15 min. walk from the city centre. The staff are still at the hight of the situation, though the hotel is far from it. Warm welcome and friendliness, great job receptionists! There is a free and enough parking space. And the bed was really comfortable, so a good point for a good sleep.
It used to be a very nice place some 7-8 years ago. We loved it, and are still returning for the good old times sake.
We almost always stay here when we are in Belfort. The aparment is clean and nice and comfortable. It is well-equipped. The hostess is extremely friendly and helpful. She always offers welcome drinks and snacks. There is a street parking, but it is free and safe as there are cameras around the building. There is a nice park behind the building where you can walk or just relax. Great place to stay.
We have used B&B many times and always been quite happy about it. This time in Belfort was the same good experience. Easy booking and payment, clean and easy to find as location is normally close to the highway.
Not high quality but price/value ratio is perfect.
The best bed ever with extremely comfort and it looked exactly like the pictures! Nice shower, bottles of water, awesome staff and great location near the river of Belfort and train station. The room was soundproofed as well. Aircondition worked perfectly.
-Friendly owner
-A cellar where I could keep my bicycle safe
-Many restaurants (as people expect in France) near to the apartment
-Absolutely reasonable price considering the size of the apartment
-Washing machine in the room
We spent the night at the hotel on our way home from France. Very close to the German border and close to the highway. Free parking outside the hotel and fast food restaurants just around the corner for a quick dinner.
Everything was fine - besides the invoices because they double invoiced the rate - it seems interface between booking com and this hotel is not agreed or aligned. I have now trouble to get the money back!
The hotel was clean,
the lady at the reception spoke good English,
big parking,
small store facility in the hotel lobby where you can buy water/chips/alcohol
Good value for money
Breakfast poor for this nice hotel. Large croissant which did not taste like croissant, no bread at the time we came. Afterwards some little breads were delivered but too late for us.
The position is not far from Belfort city center. A free parking is available in front of the house.
Even if I did a last minute booking I had no problems with the check-in.
