One of the most beautiful view in the heart of Beynac is located in Beynac-et-Cazenac, 6.9 miles from Sarlat-la-Canéda Train Station, 24 miles from Lascaux, and 3.4 miles from Castelnaud Castle. It's a great period property, located very centrally in Beynac-et-Cazenac. Plenty of room, and it has a large garden with fantastic views over the village and the river. There is an open kitchen, and a small seating area with sofas and tv - we did not use those though as there is plenty to see in the county surrounding Beynac. A particular highlight were the caves (grottes) in Lacaves. It is fairly easily accessed from souillac airport, traffic in September was pretty relaxed. Driving around and finding our way was easy.

Beynac is a nice base for exploring the majestic Dordogne region. La-Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud, Domme, and Sarlat are all within 10 km or so, and Beynac itself is a lovely riverside village. You can't go wrong just about anywhere in the Dordogne, but you can definitely go *right* in Beynac.
Very pretty town on the river, the buildings are charming and full of history. The views from every part of the town are breathtaking as it is set upon the side of a big hill. It’s a steep climb to the top but well worth it for the view. Restaurants are lovely but all serve the same food which is very heavy (red meat, cheese etc). Quiet town, not much of a vibe so it’s perfect for a couple of days to relax, drink wine, canoe down the river and have as a base to explore other areas. Need a car to get anywhere else. Fantastic restaurant at a beautiful hotel in a nearby village called Monrecour.
Beynac-et-Cazenac is a beautiful mountainside town. Small and welcoming and not too touristy You do need a car to get there and around. The Hotel du Chateau has a perfect location right across from a pay parking lot. Canoeing is right next to the Parking Lot as well as Hot Air Ballooning which I will maybe try next time. The restaurant du Chateau was excellent. And the Hotel has a small pool from which you can sun yourself and see the Balloons in the late afternoon. I'm already planning my return visit. Autumn I think would be beautiful.
We did the Chateau, a canoe trip from Carsac, and a wonderful balloon trip over the Dordogne and the castles. You need two days and two nights to do those things. But then there is not much to do since it is a small town. Gorgeous place. Can't believe we missed it on our last trip through the valley.
You need to be the sort of tourist that loves quaint, historic and picturesque settings. If you want somebody else to provide 'stuff to do' then it is not for you. But in my view this is such a really pretty, atmospheric place - encapsulating what has made British people flock to sample a vision of quintessential rural France.
A lovely place for a few days break. The we stayed in the medieval part of Beynac et Cazenac. Perfectly located to explore the village itself and surrounding areas. Kayaking, bike hire, walking and river swimming is all possible nearby or a short drive. I thoroughly recommend bike and bus (we only biked), there are opportunities to river swim during and after your bike ride. Parking is expensive in the village but our host helped us obtain a parking permit for the week for 13 euros from the Mairie... I would hope this is available to anyone residing in the village for a number of days. We ate out once at La Petite Tonnelle, food was delicious and staff lovely, once at Le Camping Rocher de La Cave as we'd been to the river beach there for a swim, the rest of the time we cooked at the apartment on the stove.

Beynac-et-Cazenac
The home was beautiful and so comfortable! Lorena met us and did a great job of orienting us to Beynac and suggesting restaurants and activities we enjoyed. The location was perfect with a private parking space and a view out of the bedrooms of Chateau Beynac. The town is more quiet than some of the others on the Dordogne, but it was very peaceful and was in a good location to view cave painting sites. We did not want to leave, but had to move on to our next stop. We will definitely be back.
The staff was welcoming and friendly. One woman spoke quite a bit of English and we enjoyed her travel insights during breakfast each day. The beds were comfortable enough. Our family had two rooms and the hotel was great about putting an extra bed in my daughter's room for my granddaughter. The breakfasts were typically French with no meat and nothing hot, but good croissants and juice.
Beynac-et-Cazenac
This is the perfect stay if you are looking for some quite days to rest and connect with the nature. The hotel is a rustic house located in the middle of a beautiful field, the rooms are very comfortable, the stuff is really nice and the breakfast is also really good. Recommend it 100% and would love to come back at some point.
