Chagny is a small provincial town about 10 miles from Beaune. It is central to the vines of the Cote du Beaune, literally only two or three minutes to the road which leads past places like Mersualt, Volnay, Pommard, Puligny, Santanay, Rully etc. An absolute joy for wine lovers!.
For foodies there is Lameloise (forgive the possible bad spelling) which provides true Haute Cuisine in a beautiful vaulted restaurant and rated one of the best in Burgundy -if not the best! There are other fabulous restaurants in the town and many, many others in the nearby wine villages.
On my most recent visit I stayed at the Chateau Bellecroix, a grand place in every sense of the word, (except the rates which were very reasonable), absolutely stunning, for two nights. I will return, probably later this year.
I had arranged three wine tastings at three different locations & was met with tremendous hospitality at each and tasted some 17 wines, all of which were described in detail by the vintner who had made it.
A great place for getting around this beautiful wine region & meeting some of the people who make it so special.
