This is a quiet town with good restaurants and interesting things to explore. The small museum was fascinating. Ideal location from which to visit Guédelon - where a team of forty master-builders has taken on the extraordinary challenge of building a castle using the technology and materials of the Middle Ages. We were here for three nights and Giles and his wife (the owners) were brilliant. So helpful with everything - from serving breakfast in our room (overlooking the river) to providing ice buckets for our wine. The guest house is beautiful and the garden - with seating overlooking the Loire - is wonderful. The town of Cosne Cours sur Loire (two minute walk) has plenty of bars and restaurants and you're only 15 minutes drive from Sancerre.
