Gordes is very pretty but does get quite busy with visitors. Some of the other villages nearby are also lovely and much less crowded - for example Oppede le Vieux, Menerbes and Venasque. A Beautiful historic hilltop village. Lots of payed parking available on top. It’s possible to walk up but we decided against it in the heat. The drive up is very scenic. If you're planning on driving here with a rental car please...
If you're planning on driving here with a rental car please be aware that it is extremely busy and the roads are incredibly narrow. My experienced driver was uncomfortable with parallel parking next to a precipitous drop The view that you often see in photos from the lookout near the village is beautiful but what you don't see are the lines of other people waiting to get the same shot. In short, it's incredibly touristy which does take away from the quaint ambiance I was looking for. We also visited Fontaine de Vancleur and found that village to be more manageable in terms of crowds, parking, and driving.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Gordes is a magical town, it's all walkable and you'll have plenty of choice for restaurants, be careful not to set out for dinner too late though as places seem to close quite early. We had a fantastic meal at La Trinquette which I highly recommend. There's also a lively outdoor bar/restaurant opposite with a view! If you're staying in the area and have access to a car, make sure you check out Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque for it's beautiful exterior lined with Lavender (no need to get sucked in to the hour tour), also be sure to visit Le Sentier des Ocres, Roussillon is a stunning town and the orange Quarry is definitely something not to miss! Parking can be quite tricky in the very heart but it's a small town and two mins up the road is a massive car park.Guest review byTaraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Gordes is a beautiful medieval village with lovely shops and restaurants and stunning views. It has a wonderful market every Tuesday morning. However it can get hectically busy during the day as it is phenomenally popular with tourists. It’s best to visit it early,around 10 am, and even at 9am on market day. I stayed at a couple of places in Gordes this trip and this location can’t be beat. It’s hard to believe that this huge property is in the middle of the centre of Gordes! The city car park is next door ( but you park here free!!!) I can’t stress enough how important a parking space is in Gordes during summer. The facilities were fine, aircon was a god send.
