Hôtel AKENA La Ferté Bernard is 1.3 km from the centre of Cherré and 2.5 km from La Ferté-Bernard Train Station. It offers en suite rooms, free Wi-Fi access and a lift. We were in the region for a wedding 7min away so the location was great despite being located in ‘no-where’, and facing a shopping mall Leclerc in the middle of the countryside. Very clean and comfy for the night. We didn’t have any meals but breakfast that was basic but the croissants and coffee (machine made) were good. Good value for the money.
Located in Cherreau, Au Jardin de Lisa provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a shared lounge, a garden and a terrace. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome to the size of the room, to the breakfast. As a bonus, we were expecting a family room with four of us staying together, but in fact this was two separate rooms with a bathroom in between.
Located in Le Theil, Auberge de la Cloche offers an on-site restaurant, bar and daily newspapers. Le Mans is just under an hour’s drive away and Perche Regional Park is 14 km from the hotel. Very friendly staff. Very apologetic that booking does not make it clear to the public that the restaurant is closed Saturday and Sunday . Very handy supermarket next door !
Les chambres de la Bosse is set in La Bosse and has a garden and a terrace. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. All guest rooms in the guest house are fitted with a flat-screen TV. Very nice host, good price. Authentic French village. Nice lake in the neighborhood.
Gîte du banc de scie is located in Ceton and offers free bikes, a garden and barbecue facilities. Great place. Lovely host. It was very hot (34 degrees Celsius) when we were there in August, but the house was nice and cool. Lovely garden chairs for lazying in the shade or star gazing. Nice and peaceful. Lake nearby for swimming.
The place is interesting and good to explore but the centre is full of traffic even though it looks pedestrianised. We were there in August and nearly everywhere is closed for annual holidays. We took a boat trip which was fun. The best restaurant was the little creperie away from the main centre where we had delicious galettes.
The most magnificent town, spotless. Great places to eat. La Tour de Pizza Restaurant, excellent food and great value. Le Cygne Brasserie a good place to relax, owners Jean Pierre and Lara are very friendly. Would go back in a second. Thank you.
I went there for the MotGP race meeting at LeMans but didn't want to stay in LeMans itself. It was perfect for my purposes but I can't comment on it's suitability for people with other priorities. The town is nice and a 5 minute walk. The hotel staff were all very nice. The restaurant excellent. Most of the other guests were there for the same reason but I see no reason why guests staying there at other times with other interests shouldn't be perfectly happy.
Some beautiful buildings to visit and the church is amazing. The centre is surrounded by water and you can hire pedalos to explore although we did not do this. There is also a large market on a Monday. It is a good location for accessing Le Mans as well as the Perche National Park which is very beautiful.
