Old coaching inn with tea garden facing the River Seine.
Old coaching inn with tea garden facing the River Seine. Walks on river bank. Hostess was busy with tea garden until 5pm when clients there had dispersed so we walked the town which has wonderful, old beamed properties and an interesting church which was open. Room was comfortable but hostess asked us, as we were shown the room, not to put bags on bed, being a bed & breakfast she didn't have bed bugs like some hotels might have. An odd comment indeed! Breakfast was good, we were asked the night before if we wanted croissants which had not happened in previous fortnight's accommodation, but we've had fresher ones.

Petit Andely is beautiful, Grand Andelys is okay but not quite in the same category. Chateau Gaillard towers over Petit Andely and the Seine river and valley.
The views from the Chateau are spectacular and well worth the walk or drive up there to experience. Going into the Chateau is not needed as you can walk all around it and get the same great views.
Petit Andelys is where we'd stay every time. Picturesque, right by the river and beneath the Chateau, very quiet and 3-4 good places to eat. Would recommend booking your restaurant in advance.

The location and the view from the hotel we stayed at.
The location and the view from the hotel we stayed at. The walk along the river is beautiful with some lovely old cottages along the way. The only problem we had was that we stayed on a Monday and a few eating places weren’t open.

There are two areas of Les Andelys, the old town which they refer to as Le Petit Andely and the much busier new town. I would recommend staying in the old town which is prettier and still has about five restaurants and a small bar. The main reason to visit Les Andelys is of course Chateau Gaillard, built by Richard the Lionheart in 1198, now entirely a ruin, but still magnificent in a stunning location. It costs nothing to walk around the walls but there is a small charge if you want to access the Keep (3.50 euros). Walk the steep slope up to the Chateau (good for the cardio) from just opposite the Tourist office or drive up to it via the new town. We 60+ 'oldies' did both.
This place is outstanding. It is in a charming old building in the picturesque town of Les Andelys. It has been lovingly and stylishly restored. It is clear that a great deal of thought has gone into providing guests with the best possible service from a personal welcome to an exceptional breakfast of one’s choice.
Located in the center of the town with the only door with a sign 'gite' above the entrane, we had no problem finding the best place to stay overnight in Les Andelys. We travelled by bicycle that we could store in the backyard. Owner arranged for our stay on short notice and was very helpful and supportive.
Location on bank of River Seine is just idyllic. Food in restaurant was delightful. Proprietor took great care to explain and describe the hotel, it's food and the local area. We had a really excellent two night stay, whilst visiting Monet's garden at Giverny and Rouen's attractions.
Very comfortable apartment in the town center with free public parking just over the street. Great location to explore Les Andelys, Giverny and other towns and villages in the area and Rouen is not far either.
The location of the hotel was wonderful historic building set in a medieval town on the beautiful banks of the river Seine. Certain areas such as the dining room and terrace were very good.
This period hotel is a lovely first stop on a long journey down to the dordogne. Delicious food comfy room and well located on the main square overlooking the Seine
The location was good - close to the centre of Les Andelys. The room was fine - big enough (without being huge) and reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was fine.
