It was a nice stay at the hotel, I enjoyed the lobby they have downstairs (can chill and have a drink of your choice). The staff is super friendly and tried to help with personal questions (transport card, nearby malls where you can get an umbrella because it was raining a couple of days while I was staying there). They all speak English, so you will not have a problem with communication at all. I had a private room, it was clean and spacious, on the 4th floor. The room service is being done upon request at the reception desk. The hotel is close to Marseille Saint-Charles station so if you want to reach it you can get a ticket for yourself (I booked it online on the Marseille Airport website on a date of my arrival, ~ 10 euros), L91 bus comes pretty often to the Airport bus station and you just onboard and go for 40-45 mins without stops. It goes straight to Marseille Saint-Charles station, from there it takes you 13 mins to reach the hotel by foot, if you like walking as I do :) The location of the hotel is also nice, just ~20 minutes of walk to the city center with beautiful views and sightseeing points. There's also a nice backyard/terrace on the first floor which closes at 10 PM, but the place is really cute and chill. One day I will definitely come back :)

Attractive, clean and upmarket property. Surrounding area felt safe for a solo traveler. Beds were comfortable and I liked the variety of pillows. Shower was great with different water jet settings and quality soaps. Towels and robes were soft and luxurious. Mini fridge a bonus. Room was very quiet with black out shades, and window opens for fresh air. Highly recommend.

FAQs about hotels in Marseille

A City Built from the Sea

Founded by the Phocaeans in 600 B.C., the long history of Marseille has produced an interesting and dynamic port-side city bursting with cultural diversity. Watch the fishermen sell their catch by auction at Vieux Harbor or cruise along the Corniche roads with views of the Calanques, dramatic rocky inlets to the sea.

The le Cours Julien and la Plaine areas provide a trendy hangout and every Thursday and Saturday morning, the Plaine market offers its various wares. This is the area to buy a novel from a hip bookshop or watch your kids on one of the playgrounds. There are also plentiful cafes to sip a cappuccino and watch the world go by.

If a culture packed vacation is on the agenda, the Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne, Notre Dame de la Garde and Palais Longchamp won’t disappoint. The unique Unité d'Habitation, designed by famous architect Le Corbusier, contains everything from a shopping street to housing and has spectacular views of the terracotta landscape that makes Marseille so distinctive.

Marseille is a short trip from Marseille Provence Airport, so your holiday can start promptly. With over 100 hotels and apartments available, Booking.com is the perfect place to find great accommodation and start your journey in the largest city on the Côte d'Azur.

The city has two polar opposites, the touristy all polished places and the very narrow dirty little streets. I only got to see this because we arrived in the city with a car very late at nigh (early in the morning) 3:30am, and we missed a turn to get to our hotel so the navigation took us into different one way alleys and it was surprisingly lively and busy (not in a good way) at that time of the night. Otherwise on the typical tourist attractions everything seems normal, you see diversity of people, a lot of options for food and good atmosphere. We even witnessed a protest going on and still felt safe.

The city is about 2600 years old. Greeks first settled in Marseille. Now this is a huge city with amazing people, beautiful French language, Friouli islands near Marseille. You can get there by ferry ship. Additionally there are beautiful churches, beautiful architecture, the pine trees smell so good. Take the trip to the Calanques National Park by ferry and you will see white cliffs and blue waters. Enjoy ice-cream in the city. Buy Marseille soup for your house.

Marseille has many interesting and beautiful quarter, and a wonderful museum of Greek and Egyptian archaeology, one of our main reasons for the visit. But, especially at night, the town can have a sinister feel. I very nearly had my computer stolen from my backpack as we walked from the station, and Marseille is not a place where you feel it is safe to carry round your passport. Even the central areas of the town are disfigured by graffiti. So, worth visiting, but take care of your possessions, choose a good hotel to isolate yourself from the town and don't make the stay too long.

Marseille is a cosmopolitan center; you will find there the history of a country (continent) in a nutshell, and the simmering traces of revolt are evident. On the other extreme, you can walk through a city of French grandeur, see the monuments, and stroll and shop on the significant and renovated quai. Been there now 2 times with 5 years in between, and the extremes only became more entrenched. To get a sense of the growing divide between the rich and the poor, consider a city tour of Marseille.

This was excellent value and perfect for the one night I needed a hotel in a central location close to station and Vieux Port. I also had a very large heavy suitcase so the ground floor room was perfect for this. Great value for money if you are on a budget and can't afford the expensive hotels on the Vieux Port. The little courtyard downstairs was also very nice and the breakfast very good value and quality. It was also great to get an authentic Marseille experience being close to the Noailles market. Also very nice kind staff.

Practical location a bit out of centre, but still good walking distance to St Charles, 20 mins to Vieux Port, and 5 mins to metro Joliette, in a modernized neigborhood.. Room in the known basic Ibis way, with a tiny touch of style. I was in an upper floor to the north side, which was quiet. Good breakfast, useful bar. Even though there is no lack of good restaurants in walking distance, the option for dinner in the hotel is useful when arriving late, and the kitchen was good.

The apartment was clean, comfortable, extremely well equipped and spacious (4 of us stayed and there was plenty of room) with excellent AC (Marseille was having a heatwave). It is really well situated just a very short walk from the railway station, an easy 20 minute walk into town (le panier, vieux port) and there is a Carrefour supermarket just round the corner. It was nice to have the balcony. Easy check in and good communication with the host. And Marseille is fabulous!

The apartment was really nice, sunny and big. It had everything you needed and it was near Vieux Port, an near shops and restaurants. It was quiet because it was facing a garden. For those of you worried about Marseille (as I was), you shouldn’t be. We stayed in Avignon for 3 nights before Marseille and there were more strange and homeless people in Avignon than here. We only walked in Marseille, to the beach, to Notre Dame de la Garde, to Longchamps and we had no problems.
