My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at Hôtel Gabriel for 7 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was our first time to Menton and we could not have picked a better place to stay. It is centrally located, only a 5-minute walk to the main tourist area and the main beaches and a 10-12 minute walk to the Menton train station. There are many good restaurants and bars nearby. We booked a Jasmine room. It had plenty of room, a comfortable bed, and a balcony with a nice view of the city. The air conditioning and ceiling fan helped keep the room a comfortable temperature for the entire stay. The televisions are equipped with Netflix, which we appreciated whenever we decided to take a break in our room from the heat outside. The design of the room (and the entire hotel) is beautiful and clearly newly renovated. We had no issues with noise from inside or outside the hotel. We had breakfast at the hotel a few times throughout our stay. There was a wide variety of options and everything was delicious. At first, we thought it was a little expensive at 17€ a person, but after we tried doing breakfast elsewhere, we realized the value for money and convenience factor are worth it and we would recommend purchasing breakfast with your reservation. We also got drinks from the bar at the front reception once and they were served with a bowl of potato chips as an aperitif. We were also able to store our luggage at the hotel after our checkout since we had a late flight. The staff of this hotel were what really made our stay fantastic. From the first moment we walked in, we were welcomed with friendly enthusiasm and genuine care for making our stay as nice as possible. Every single person we interacted with was lovely. We were always greeted when we came back to the hotel and we were asked more than once if there was anything else we needed to make our stay even better. The best of hospitality!

Known as ‘The Pearl of France’, the city of Menton is located on the French Riviera near the Italian border. Overlooking the blue Mediterranean waters, this destination has colourful houses with red roofs, golden beaches and a harbour with fishing boats and yachts.

Built by the architect Laurent Lavagna, the 17th century Basilica of Saint-Michel-Archange is a historic Baroque-style church with an imposing belltower. Home to the Jean Cocteau Museum, the 17th century Bastion was once a defensive fort. Today, this museum hosts a great collection of ceramics and a unique mosaic.

Wander around the pedestrian streets of the old town, relax in a traditional cafe or discover the green gardens of the city, including the Jardin Serre de la Madone and the Botanical Garden.

Thanks to its mild climate, Menton is a great place for citrus trees to grow. During the annual Lemon Festival, visitors will have the chance to admire the huge composition of oranges and lemons.

    Menton is beautiful.

    Menton is beautiful. A perfect stop along a fab coastline of towns and villages both in France and over the border in Italy. The town itself is buzzing with cafes, shops and restaurants. The old world charm of the town remains and it isn't over- commercialised. Beaches are lovely, with warm, clear water, mind the stony sand though. The area felt unspolit. An ideal spot to base yourself to travel around the regions, close to Nice airport, Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and Italy. Public transport was fine, trains and Ubers, local buses were infrequent. We loved The New Bar on the pier, a basic pub with music and friendly staff. Menton is hilly, especially around Menton Garavan (port area) so avoid if you've mobility issues or young children, better to locate in the town itself. Recommend a sunrise swim, beautiful to see the sun rise and reach the Basicilica St Michael, a must visit tourist site.

    It was right in the middle of some of the best places in Europe. Quick and easy trip to towns and cities along the Italian Riviera, Milan and of course Nice and Monaco. Steps to the train station that can take you to all these spots. Very clean. Abundance of restaurants and bakeries to chose from.

    We discovered Menton 5 years ago and since then every summer we come back. It's a little gem of the Côte d'Azur ideally located, with ideal transport links to all the best places to visit both in Italy and France.Trains are fast, comfortable, very frequent and not too expensive. The sea is cristalline, beaches are clean not too crowded. The Promenades is just spectacular, completely equipped for all activities, with drinking fountains, wooden deck chairs for sunbathing, gazebos for relaxing with artificial fog during the hottest hours, many slides and equipment for children, in the evening there are concerts, fireworks, air shows.The main street of shopping and restaurants, pizzerias and ice cream parlors is simply mind-blowing. Absolutely to try Gelateria Sofia, pizzeria Vesuvio, Osteria da Carlo, restaurant Leone, for food shopping -supermarkets Casino and Carrefour City.The hospitality of the locals, the climate, the food, the sea and the air make this city an incredibly attractive place for a family (and not only) holiday.

    A beautiful, unspoilt Italianate Mediterrean seaside town nestled between the sea and the mountains. Citrus trees line the streets. Many gardens to visit and walk in. Not dominated by high rise buildings and no bad behaviour witnessed during our stay. Chic but not a brash reserve for the super rich only like it's neighbour, Monte Carlo!

    Lovely town with lots to explore many restaurants and beach bars. 2 train stations within 10 minutes of seafront... Great base to explore the cote d azur. We had lovely meals at the sablettes beach club and Carnival restaurant.. Sea bream was so good.... Hired a speedboat.. Dream boats.. for 2 hours to enjoy the nearby coast to Menton...

    After visiting a number of locations along the French Riviera (Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Eze, Grasse, Nice, Monaco, and Sanremo Italy), we agreed that Menton was our favorite city! It is charming, just the right size, and built in a beautiful location on a hillside overlooking the sea. We will definitely return to Menton to spend more time enjoying the lovely culture, welcoming people, and amazing sites!

    Clean, lovely apartment, newly renovated, modern equipment in the apartment, Netflix & other channels subscriptions, air conditioning, nice location in Menton Old Town, very nice and responsive owner, ample space in the apartment for 3, pretty & nice bedding. Although we did not use the bathtub and feel the large bathroom takes up precious space in the apartment .... But we must say the bathroom is really awesome, very comparable to that of an expensive hotel.

    Brilliant location next to train station from Nice airport so it was very easy to hop on to coastal locations whether in France or Italy. Handy to have a washing machine! Very clean flat. Just 15 mins walk to the old town of Menton. The beach was literally at the bottom of the road. Corinne was very friendly with excellent communication.
