    Mortagne is an interesting place but not as pretty as some...

    Mortagne is an interesting place but not as pretty as some of the villages in the area. There is a heritage steam train that runs to Les Herbiers and back several times a week during the holidays. Down in the river valley there is a lovely walk along the river but its steep getting down to it so of course very steep coming back up. There aren't many bars/cafes (that we could find) but found a great restaurant on the edge of St Lauren ( 5 minute drive) and wonderful fresh mussels. There was a lovely boulangerie which had freshly made baguette sandwiches and a large Super U meant we could get any lunch/supper/wine supplies.

    This accomodation was closed to my Family and there are so many places to explore. Fantastic area for those who like walking and love the nature. Close as well to the amazing Parc du Puy du fou.A visit is a must !
