Beautiful area, especially at this time of year - June - with abundant wild flowers, trees in leaf and crops growing. Lots of character to see and experience, particularly nice that the area is still lived-in rather than just a holiday destination. Easy reach of all the more well-known tourist sites and a market somewhere nearby every day of the week and even evenings in summer. Prats de Carlux is very small but it's parent village of Carlux is only 3kms away - by car or bike very quick, but also a nice walk off-road. Carlux has a wonderful restaurant - 'Typique' - which has a simple menu of very good value local specialities as well as selling bread, vegetables, confits, local walnut cakes, walnut oil etc. There is lots of outside seating on the terrace with wonderful views of the sun going down over the hills. There is a sweet little bakery, a perfect cafe bar which is open early and provides a lunchtime menu and evening meals, and a modern small supermarket. The walking is great - endless trails and quiet country roads.
