Really liked Quimper. It's a beautiful city. There is a rich heritage, many old houses, half-timbered houses, pedestrian and shopping streets. The cathedral is monumental, original with its two towers of the 19th and its choir off-center. I went to multiple spots/beaches close to Quimper: 1. Phare d'Eckmühl 2. Plage la Torche-Tronoën 3. A very beautiful city, superb streets. Worth going to see the pottery museum and exhibition of Breton life. We were disappointed that the exhibition of fine arts was closed for renovation, but a good reason to return to the town when it reopens. The height of the tourist season, the restaurants were extremely busy, too many creperies and taco bars and not enough regular restaurants. More beggars than we are used to, but a few good street musicians as well. The tourist map of town was very useful, obtainable at the tourist information office, but we couldn't find a bigger map showing more of the town and its immediate environment, apart from the OS map. We could return to Quimper again and again: there are a multitude of incredible restaurants and shops, it's easy to navigate and completely walkable.
