Our favorite part of this visit was the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire Madison staff. They clearly explained everything, from spa hours, to breakfast options, and reception hours. It was very nice to have the option to get coffee all day on the balcony! The beds were SO COMFORTABLE! The breakfast buffet was a deal, with many options and delicious coffee! The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed! We could even cast our phone apps to watch english tv! Wifi worked very well. And finally, the location was close to everything! The harbour, the beach, shopping, grocery, and historical buildings. We will be back, and The Madison is where we will stay.

This boutique hotel is a real treat! Its location, close to the sea and to the centre of the old town, is terrific. It is an old Victorian mansion, with lots of character, its surrounding grounds are beautiful and relaxing, it has a lovely swimming-pool and a first-class restaurant.     Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Also some good local shops.

    A good town to visit for a weekend.

    A good town to visit for a weekend. Lots of shops and restaurants. A great beach with a nice esplanade. I wouldn't recommend the restaurants for vegans, because there are very few veg options (except for salads loaded with non-vegan toppings). The covered market offers some nice, fresh foods. There was a nice man selling organic spices.

    A small, quiet resort without being stuffy. There are lots of good restaurants and there are so many seafood options. We can spend our time freely. Recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time or walking, hiking as there are rare sightseeing place. It is a favorite town that I like to visit every few years.

    Nice uncrowded beach getaway. Good place to base out of as its close to Biarritz and San Sebastien. After visiting most of the Basque Coast St. Jean de Luz was nice place to come back to as it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The town had very nice shops and an attractive square with dining all around.

    It was tranquil and full of life!

    It was tranquil and full of life! The beach was beautiful and clean, loved the old town, beautiful drinks in the sunset, just lovely. Easy access to Pays Basque and Sans Sebastien for a day trip. Easy to drive to from other places.

    It was a lovely little city.

    It was a lovely little city. A good place to take a break before heading on to Paris. If I go there again I may stay a few more days. Also the absolute best baked goods I’ve tasted. The church were Louis XIV married was beautiful too.

    Modern, stylish hotel. Beautiful spacious rooms and very comfy beds. Lovely breakfast-lots of options and great bread and teas. Location right in the town and near the station and port is really great and even though they run a lot of music events till late the sound proofing in the rooms is very good so you can still get a good nights sleep. Staff very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of help with travel in the local area.

    The hotel was perfectly positioned to the station and the wee village of was a real gem to wander around. Beautiful market in the town on a Tuesday which was totally unexpected and was stocked with everything you could want food wise. Beautiful beach and gorgeous St John the Baptist church.
