L'Auberdiere is located in Saint-Jean-des-Essartiers and offers a garden, barbecue facilities and a terrace. Everything we could asked for was there. Play area for the kids, info regarding the tourist attractions, shops etc. Would recommend it to friends.
Located in Caumont-l'Eventé, Chambres d'Hôtes Les Champs Français sits in the middle of a 4921 ft² garden. You can relax on the furnished terrace or rent a bike to discover the area. This was a 10 of 10 all the way around. The place was easy to find, with gated parking, and a nice gravel courtyard that stayed dry (ok, maybe not dry, but not muddy) in the rain. I arrived a bit late due to rain and traffic on the way from Brussels, and the very friendly hostess (Adeline) showed me to my room and asked what I'd like for dinner. The dinner of wine, duck pate, pollock, fingerling potatoes, green beans, local cheese, and confit of apples and pears was fantastic, and a bargain at 30 euros. Breakfast included homemade jams and yogurt; a fresh, crisp and flaky baguette and croissant; fresh orange juice; and coffee or tea. She offered eggs too, which I didn't have. The room was large and comfortable. I stayed in late September and the weather was turning colder, but the room was warm, with heaters in the bedroom and bathroom. The European bed was a little lower than I'm used to, but it was nice and firm. The rainfall shower was nice, with plenty of pressure and hot water. Adeline's elderly yellow lab is very friendly and mellow. The wifi had a strong signal, and Adeline said they were in the process of installing fiber, so the speeds are going to be incredible when that is done. The gardens are beautiful, and the million dollar view out back is worth checking out (or if you are staying longer than one night, a great place to relax and read a book).
Saint-Martin-des-Besaces Is central to all areas of Normandy and beyond. Close to the A roads, shops & larger towns, supermarkets etc. While the village is typically rural French most things you need or require are there.
It was very quiet. Not a great deal going on in the evening. We were short driving distance from a great zoo, caves and the viaduct where there was a luge, playpark and bungee jumping. We also deove to Saint Lo for dinner at bistro 59 and saw the church of Notre Dame. We wanted to visit Mont Saint Michel but ran out of time!
