The host Sebastien and his wife were exceptionally helpful and responsive starting from the moment of booking when they answered all my questions immediately and throughout our stay during which they helped us with restaurant reservations and several other requests. They are just the nicest people and took such good care of us! The castle is truly extraordinary and located in a peaceful, unspoiled country village. You feel transported to another era. A marvelous surprise were the vast landscaped grounds, with multiple working fountains, a hidden vegetable garden, tons of birds, etc. From our room, the views of the grounds, church, and surrounding volcanic hills were gorgeous and probably unchanged since the days of Marie de Medici, with no modern construction in sight and no light pollution so that the starry night sky was spectacular. The room was immense with very high ceilings, very clean, sunny, and there are beautiful paintings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries everywhere, and interesting antiques. I like that the castle is not overly restored and has a lot of character- something that is increasingly hard to find. All in all, a very memorable and magical stay, and a perfect, central base for visiting the Puy de Dome, Puy de Sancy, Orcival, Saint Nectaire, etc, while staying away from the touristy areas, in a very special spot. Stayed 3 nights but wish it had been longer, both to explore the region more and have more time in this great chateau.

Just as expected - everything we needed was in the apartment. Top clean, new, bed is very comfortable. Good lighting solutions, enough sockets to charge phones etc. The location allows to stay away from the city traffic, perfect stop during long road. The owners are super nice and caring.

The proprietor, Georges, was very kind and knowledgeable. La Charmeraie is, without question, one of the best bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed in. And I've travelled all over the world. The setting, the artworks, the wonderful hospitality and breakfast, the panoramic views from the terrace; everything was superb.
