Beautifully maintained chateau rich with history and thoughtful details for a luxurious stay. We were welcomed by the owner who shared the history of the property and made us feel warmly welcomed and generously helped us with all of our questions. This was our favorite stay throughout the Loire Valley, and we ended on the best note possible.

Pleasantly surprised to find this quaint, beautifully decorated and looked after boutique hotel. Very central with a public parking 150m away. Fantastic breakfast with so many goodies including organic goodies that I cannot list. A real meal. Has a small bar with a large whisky collection.

The staff were very accomodating and able to answer all of our questions about local attractions, restaurants, grocery, etc. Easy walk to city center and Chateau. Our room was large and very comfortable, the AC worked well, and the room/bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was good. Secure and covered bicycle parking was available inside the hotel's gated car park. Plain and very clean hotel w/o fancy decorations, etc...exactly what we look for in a comfortable place to sleep.

It is right across the street from the train station, it was clean and provided what I needed at a reasonable price. Having the restaurant downstairs was a plus for me as I was traveling alone and didn’t want to be wandering around looking for a place to eat.

Room location was great very accessible to everything and very quiet. Loved being able to get to the spa area in the bathrobes that were on loan to us with a bag to carry our belongings that was very well thought out.

After originally booking Maison de Gaspard which was not for a family of 4 people we were so happy to find Les Terraces de Saumur! Comfortable beds, great staff, and delicious meal!! (The 'doubles' are larger than a Queen in the U.S. We are used to a King and the size was fine. We got 2 rooms since kids had to share a double bed, too.) I didn't expect such a good meal at a hotel, but of course it is France! Huge spread for breakfast and although I am wary of machines that make coffee the ones they have actually make a very good cappuccino. Perfect stay. Responsive staff. Very happy. Pool is nice and heated. TIP: if you are in Saumur Sunday and Monday pay for the meals at the hotel because we found out that all restaurants/cafes, etc are closed and only serve drinks on these days.

    Lovely relaxed atmosphere with some great restaurants. The Chateau was interesting but I've visited better. The Cavalry museum was informative and only 6 euros for entry. Loads of tourists around in August but this just added to the ambiance. Clean streets and no litter!

    The old town has lots of shops, bars and restaurants, interesting architechture. and a view of the Loire. The Chateau is beautiful. The tank museum (Musee De Blindes) is very interesting with most exhibits having both English and French descriptions.

    A walkable city, very compact.

    A walkable city, very compact. Good buses to places of interest and to visit the other side of Saumur over the river. Lots to do for everyone, Cadre Noir horse show, an armoured vehicle museum which is very interesting. Vineyard trips. Activities and restaurants to suit every budget.

    Sadly not as pretty or enjoyable as our previous visit some years ago. Pretty grubby street wise, could do with a good clean and some flowers might improve it's appearance. We were only there for a two day visit. We visited the Calvary musem, took a boat trip and took the little train tour around the city All the attractions we visited were very good, friendly staff and good value for money

    Saumur is a beautiful town on the banks of the River Loire, with many restaurants and places to visit. The whole area quite lovely with many unspoilt villages and towns nearby. It is a very good base to tour the area visiting many of the Chateau of the Loire Valley.

    Sparkling Saumur wine is the best - and not expensive, find out more at the Maison de Vins d'Anjou et Saumur where there are free tastings. Don't miss lofty Saumur Castle - it's free to walk around it until 22:30 in summer. Fabulous views and a cafe (although closed late at night). Best restaurant is L'Essential and it's not too expensive for excellent food. La Bourse near the Opera House is also worth trying. I was disappointed by the Auberge de Saint Pierre in town - average food and worse service. Beware the midges that swarm around street lights by the river, don't leave your hotel window open in the evening or they'll be in your room. Nice little city, convenient for chateaux visits

    A very nice hotel and the location for visiting the Loire valley is perfect! The room was fine, clean and the bathroom also clean. I recommend the breakfastlbuffet, makes you ready for a nice day. The man in the reception, Oliver I think his name is, was fantastic giving information about what to see and visit. A big help. He also helped us finding a restaurant.

    When you book in this price range in France you understand your own expectations about the accommodation. The rooms whilst basic were perfect for the stopover. Breakfast again was simple, but perfect and more than adequate, well stocked and plenty of coffee. The location was a short distance from the centre of Saumur by car and the location was easy to find.

    A smart comfortable hotel in the centre of Saumur. Rooms with wonderful views of the Loire river. Excellent hotel if cycling the Loire or Velo Francette cycle routes with secure bicycle storage. Parking outside the hotel is free between 18.30 and 09.00 the following morning otherwise 2 euros for a maximum of 2 hours. Anymore time gets very expensive.

    The hotel is beautifully decorated and the bedrooms exceptional. In particular the bathroom was stunning. Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of pastries, bread and savoury options. The staff were all very attentive. The hotel is in the heart of Saumur so could not have been better.

    Great location right on the Loire river and so close to the centre for restaurants and shops with the magnificent castle right behind the hotel. The accommodation was very characterful and comfortable. The owners and staff so helpful.
