Sisteron is in an amazing location - it really *is* the border of provence, and is quite visible in the vegetation, for example. The Citadelle itself is amazing, and well worth the visit (in spite of the number of steps for a lot of viewing). It's a charming town with narrow hilly streets. Enjoyed La Citadelle visit - the views from there are fantastic. The best restaurant we can recommend is L'Oppidum - we ended up eating there 3 times (2 lunches and dinner) during our 3-day trip. The other good restaurant was Brassero near the cathedral. The location is fantastic.
The location is fantastic. It's great being in town and the town is really beautiful. They could certainly use some professional staff and not rely so heavily on the young ones to greet the customers. The bar and restaurant area is dated and devoid of character.
