Souillac is a handy stop on a long drive north or south through France as it is very close to the A20. Really exceptional place - the hosts went over and above...
Really exceptional place - the hosts went over and above what you would expect. The cycling related rooms, themes and inspired antique furniture made for an interesting and informative stay - we browsed the posters and pictures for hours. Food in the cafe was very good - with combination of locals and tourists all welcome to enjoy the social spaces. Hosts also helped with our touring around plans and information about other local sites and ammenities. Will be returning again! We ate out in the nearby town - about a 5 min walk from the house - really good quality in both restuarants and music both nights! We were able to attend the Festa de las bandas, fantastic atmosphere! (start of August) There is a boulangerie, cinema etc nearby. Walking distance to the Dordogne river. We were amazed at how quiet it was being in the centre and so close to all the festivities. Private car park very useful. Very clean, great shower. Owners very communicative and friendly. Martine is an excellent host. Souillac is a great base for exploring the region - everything we wanted to see was not much further than 1/2 hour away.
