It’s one of the premiere ski resorts for a reason. Huge ski area, that never disappoints. We have skied Val for over 16yrs, and always find ourselves coming back. A few of the livelier places in town have disappeared over the last few years so it’s not quite the Apres ski town it used to be. But as we are getting older we don’t miss them as our days of being out all night are behind us. From working whole seasons in France and Switzerland Val D’isere definitely provides. The valley traps snow meaning it’s snow sure. The espace Killy has a great ski area for all levels although the ski area doesn’t offer a lot of ski in ski out and the only way from Tignes is either le face or le daille. It was designed and built in 1964 by a local architect and carpenter, and makes great use of wood throughout. The hotel has been well maintained, not over restored, and is great value for money. The room was compact but well designed, with good storage space, and a better than average bathroom for a hotel at this price point. I had a drink at the bar, but did not dine in the restaurant.
