Hotel de Montaulbain is located in the historic center of Verdun-sur-Meuse, just 656 feet from the Roman Catholic Diocese. Free WiFi internet access is provided throughout. The owners / operators were especially helpful and friendly. The breakfast was outstanding. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Several good restaurants within a two-minute walk.
Located within 1.1 miles of Verdun Aquadrome and 5 miles of Verdun Memorial, B&B Hôtel Verdun provides rooms in Verdun-sur-Meuse. Absolutely great for value, it’s the cheapest stay during my trip this time but one of the best . Very clean room and warm during winter, nice breakfast include hot dish which is important for us who don’t like cold continental breakfast, friendly staff although don’t speak English , but we could communicate and their recommendation of a local French bistro just 200meters far from is fantastic
This ibis Budget is in Verdun, 1.5 miles from the center of town. It provides air-conditioned guest rooms, each with a private bathroom, elevator access, cable TV and free Wi-Fi. very clean and very quiet. Restaurants within walking distance.
Hotelf1 Verdun offers accommodations in Verdun-sur-Meuse. Free WiFi and free private parking are available at this property. Guests have access to a shared bathroom. I liked the whole experience except 2 things
Located 2.5 mi from the center of Verdun and 5.6 mi from Verdun Memorial, Hotel Privilège features a traditional restaurant, a bar and a garden. Basic 2 star hotel, spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. On the outskirts of Verdun, but close to the motorway and over the road from a retail park, supermarkets, McD, and a tyre repair shop, that couldn't have been better placed.!.

The amount of WWI history in the area would take weeks to see every thing. We spent a full day with a guide and were only able to see the highlights. The second morning we were able to see the cathedral & take the tour of the citadel but had to leave before we could really explore the city.
What a wonderful “small “ city, I was here to visit the sights of The Great War, battlefields, forts and cemeteries. Very powerful experience. Everyone I came in contact with from the restaurants, shops etc. we’re so nice and patient with my horrible French language skills. I’ll come back again as there was so much I did not have time from r. The folks at the Tourist Information office were top notch!
The Great War...a.k.a. World War I. Think you know something about it? You know nothing. Unless you have been to Verdun, seen the battlefields, walked in the trenches, climbed in the fortresses, and visited the museums. Mind boggling, the amount of destruction and slaughter that happened here. Traces of it are everywhere. History lovers will LOVE this place. I strongly recommend reading a book (or several) about the battle first, before you visit (and recommend Alistair Horne's The Price of Glory if you can only read one book). That will give you some knowledge about what you are going to see and prepare you by helping you identify locations - wayfinding on the battlefields is very important here (as in, try finding the remains of Fort Souville, it's nearly impossible!) so you don't get lost and can maximize your time in Verdun. Verdun the city itself is small and very run down, but charming in a rural-France sort of way. It is easy to get around although you will need a car. There is simply no way to explore all the forts and battlefields without one. People were extremely friendly to me in Verdun - as a solo American - and I was treated very kindly in hotels and restaurants.
You get a really good sense of the battle of Verdun. I did most of it on my own, even walking French trenches. But the tourist office only does tours in French, which I took as a reasonable French speaker, having been unable to find an group tour in English.
Very Good place for a person that love history. My husband injoyed every minute that we are there. And they have a tour mini bus hop in hop out. That cost €7 . Food is fine. couple of restaurant and good cakes store.
Old hotel that has been redone with every modern convenience. Staff was extremely helpful and spoke perfect English. Parking was easy and very safe. We came for the Verdun Battle memorials. Allow enough time to see everything .

Simple clean historic hotel with spacious rooms. Beautiful old building in great shape, spacious bright clean bathroom with fantastic shower. Great breakfast with several choices: croissants, yogurt, fruits, cereals, great coffee. Triple room was fantastic as it had a separate room with a single bed and another room with two beds and a bathroom in between, like a small apartment. Good location with very easy free parking in front of hotel.

I have been staying at the Colombes on an annual basis for over 10 years. It is a budget hotel. It is basic but comfortable. It does the job perfectly. It is well located to access central verdun on foot. Two excellent bakeries opposite the hotel do delicious pastries and bread. You really cannot best the value for money for staying here.

The owners were very patient with my bad French. It was very clean. The breakfast was very nice. However, the best thing was the bed. I have traveled a lot in Europe and this was the most comfortable bed I have slept in. It was soft enough for me and firm enough for my boyfriend. A rare find.
