Mellow dreams are made of Smiddy Cottage and the lovely host Sandra. The bedroom was comfy and cosy and the house smelt awesome! The area and views are great too. Super chill!
Westwood Cottage, a property with barbecue facilities and a garden, is situated in Aboyne, 19 km from Craigievar Castle. This property offers access to a patio. The landlady was fantastic and so was the cottage! My family and I went there for the weekend for a wedding and were greeted by Brenda on arrival. We got in touch the week before to arrange times for arrival and she asked if we needed anything extra. I told her about my 2 young kids and upon arrival we found a bunch of toys and games for them. There was also a wonderful welcome hamper for my wife and I. The cottage itself was beautiful. Wonderful large kitchen with dining table, the living room was connected to the kitchen by a large folding wall that could be opened like a normal door, or opened up the whole way to connect the living room and kitchen as an open plan room. The sofas were soft and there were even two reclining chairs. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and bright. The weather wasn't great on the day we had in Aboyne before the wedding, but if it had been we could have made use of the BBQ and gazebo. I only hope for another excuse to visit Aboyne to take advantage of this fantastic rental again sometime.

Aboyne is friendly, picturesque and welcoming. We used Frasers taxis who run a very efficient service for a reasonable cost. We ate at The Boat Inn which was good home cooking using fresh produce. We attended a wedding at Coo Cathedral, which was a stunning venue.

The accommodation was exceptional (especially considering we took our dog with us) as was the warm welcome we received from Liz and Neil. Freshly baked bread and sconeswith handmade jam were waiting for us along with a bottle of red and locally brewed lager. The location is fantastic, we explored the Glen Tanar estate, Lecht Ski resort (knee deep snow), Cambus o May and the local pub in Aboyne. Its a perfect hidden gem. We hope to be back for a mini break early next year.

Everything! The place is located in a quiet corner, with an open view to the rolling heels covered in forests (that was beautiful autumn colours now) but not too far from Aboyne. The accommodation is as on the pictures and better. Excellent wi-fi, very comfy beds. Tasty full Scottish breakfast with poached eggs. Anne who met us at the property was a very nice hosts. Already planning to come back.
