We were only there 1 night, but has dinner and breakfast. Both meals were the best. Our family rank the meals, rooms, restrooms and staff. The meals at the Allanton stayed at the top of our list the whole trip. If you are looking to get away in a nice cozy atmosphere with service and food. Allanton is the place for you.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean and dressed beautifully. We were invited over to Paxton to the partnership pub for a meal which was fantastic. I have never eaten so much! And got a bonus discount on our meal because we were guests. We had a fantastic stay and felt like when we left we had made new friends. If we ever get the opportunity we would love to return.

The room is decorated with good taste. Comfortable and clean room. The bar and restaurant downstairs are being painted, so not functional at the time I visited. But the breakfast was provided.

Paula & Steve were phenomenal hosts. They kindly waiting up until almost midnight for us and made sure we were safe & comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, we both slept through until our alarms went off. The breakfast was delicious and so plentiful, it was even more than 2 people from the US could eat. :-) LOL We had a lovely time chatting with them over breakfast and they let us check out later, so we weren't rushed after our long travel day the day before. We would love to stay there again, as we can't recommend them enough!

    The cottage blew us away when we entered, with its well equipped large country kitchen and living rooms, 2 great bedrooms and beautiful bathroom. The hosts left Prosecco in the fridge and eggs, croissants and jams, we wanted for nothing. Location was tremendous, with only a short walk to the Allanton Inn, a superb pub that we went to twice. Easy on-site parking.

    Purves cottage is perfect in every way. Stylish character, excellent facilities, comfortable light airy and warm. Close to so many interesting places on the Borders and we particularly enjoyed meals and drinks at the Allanton Inn.
