What a great find. We loved the friendly reception from the land- lord, Jonathan who from the onset made us feel welcome. The property was very clean and with great attention to detail.. plenty of coffee, tea and biscuits, which was well appreciated after a long day.
The evening meal was delicious and a great selection of beers and wines ..
highly recommend.

Alvediston is a beautiful village with some fantastic walks and a lovely old church with the grave of Sir Anthony Eden. The Crown pub is ok for a pint but the accommodation is outdated by any modern standards. Food is disappointing.

We stay here quite often, as a base for visiting our family in the area. Added to that the location is quiet, rural and has great scenery. Plenty of walks to explore, but if you want more City of Salisbury is not far by car as is Shaftesbury, We ate at The Crown, but there are other 'eateries' in local villages, towns and cities. If you like a peaceful retreat, for a quiet stay, but with wider facilities close by this is the place for you!

Feels remote. Beautiful countryside. Great for walking.
Feels remote. Beautiful countryside. Great for walking. Great base for visiting Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Sherborne. Feels like Old England. Narrow lanes, plenty of hills. Beautiful views. Great place to get away from it all.

Small village / hamlet. Very quiet, off the beaten track.
Small village / hamlet. Very quiet, off the beaten track. Lots of walks, well signposted, but even more besides. Drovers trails for motorcycles and walkers alike. Beautiful hills and valleys. Lush countryside. Quaint old church. Friendly locals. Easy access to beautiful Shaftesbury and Sherbourne, as well as NT Stourhead Gardens. Narrow roads, so be careful if walking, but not a great deal of traffic.
