We stayed for 12 nights and it was a home away from home. The beautiful old part of the hotel was wonderful to sit with family and have a drink. Very understanding and friendly staff really polished it off.

Just half a mile from the shores of beautiful Lake Windermere, The Fisherbeck offers scenic views across the Lake District.

Never had such nice beds! They were so comfy, not too soft, not too hard, best bed in years. The staff was also very nice and helpful. We loved the bathroom with the nice bath and the beautiful black shower. It was raining in Ambleside but the Fisherbeck made us feel sunny. O and the electric curtains, my dream came true.. :-)

It was the best place to stay as it had a good choice of eateries, pubs & cafes as well as a great selection of shops & boutiques. It had a lovely vibrant vibe. Everyone was friendly & 98%of places were dog friendly. The area is very picturesque with lovely walks through woods, waterfalls & lakeside. Also a great ferry service. I highly recommended Ambleside as a place to stay.

    Always love Ambleside.

Always love Ambleside. We only live about an hour and a half away so usually only do day trips. This trip we booked Hayes Garden World fireworks event so decided, rather than drive back late evening we would stay. Stayed over the road from Hayes and found the Fisherbeck to be perfect for our needs. Ambleside shops are really good, mainly geared towards walkers climbers etc but still plenty of other choices and lots of cafes and several pubs serving food etc. Staff are always friendly and if not too busy really chatty. Plenty of parking available either on car parks or short stay on the roads. Scenery around is some of the best in the world. Obviously plenty of walks or climbs from here. Love Ambleside!

The Hayes store the size of the state of Texas was fantastic. Although we couldn't take home some of the items we saw, we took pictures with the intent of going home and duplicating what we liked. The 3:30-4:30 pm traffic jam needs to be addressed...and although they have tried to improve situation by having one way streets in and out...still nasty with so much foot traffic also trying to visit stores...

Ambleside has everything shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, you are spoilt for choice, which is why we return numerous times. Some lovely walks that you can make as short or long as you like. We ate at Luigi’s and the Thai doi intanon, both were excellent, fantastic food and service. Easy to get to other places in the lakes as it’s central. Also has regular busses passing through. We love Ambleside ❤️🥰 it feels like home!

Luigie's is a most authentic Italian restaurant, reasonable prices. It is near the bus terminal. Plenty of easy walks direct from Ambleside. Climbing Lough Rigg is a must for the view of windermere lake at the top. The Coffin Run to Grasmere , on the Rydal Hall side, is very pleasant. Get the bus from Grasmere to Keswick for some wonderful mountain views.

Location, hotel reception was very helpful, restaurant was very good with a doggie menu which I found was a nice touch, breakfast had a good selection and the Skelwith grill was exceptional. My room was comfortable but located on the top floor were I found the stairs hard for me to navigate at my age. Furniture is quite dated but understandable for a budget hotel. overall I rate the hotel four star.

Great place. Ambleside is a nice balance between quiet and things to do plus good bus connections. Our room was also great with cute design touches and fantastic water pressure. No breakfast, but they told us in advance and we didn't find it to be a problem because numerous cafes and bakeries were just down the street. Also a very nice view of town and the surrounding countryside from the window.

The room was larger than we expected and exceptionally clean. The continental breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of fruit and a good choice of other food. The staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the park opposite the hotel and had views of the mountains beyond. The hotel has an excellent location near the centre of Ambleside.

Beautiful location and amazing views across the lake. Room was clean and comfortable with a good shower. We had a dog friendly room which was perfect. 20 minute walk into Ambleside which we enjoyed. We eat at Lucy on a plate which was fantastic (need to book) and again was dog friendly. Staff were lovely would stay again.

Service was impeccable throughout the hotel. Breakfast was really very good. Spa, with pool, steam and sauna and hydro pool beyond expectations. Loved the location and the fact that there is parking on site. Lounge areas are tastefully furnished and decorated with ample space to read, have a drink and just relax.

Lovely location, very central to Ambleside and a short drive to Windermere. The property was very dog friendly, and provided towels to dry down muddy paws. Beautifully decorated rooms that were immaculate. The room was lovely and quiet, no disturbances.

Lovely continental breakfast, but sadly, due to their recent kitchen fire we could not have any cooked food (for which we were compensated) and were not able to have dinner in the hotel as planned.
