Nestled in 2 acres of private woodland in Ballater, this small family-run hotel offers free WiFi, parking, log fires, delightful dining and comfortable bedrooms. This was a family run hotel and great to stay in. We woke up to see a deer running across the golf course.
In the Cairngorms National Park, this luxurious country house is 8 miles from Balmoral Castle and has a swimming pool, a beauty spa, gym and tennis court. Nothing no to like about this property, it has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in, our room was amazing, stayed for 3 nights, did not want to check out!!
Gordon Guesthouse is located in Ballater, within Cairngorns National Park. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a TV. Very nice room in the centre of Ballater which itself is a small village (or town?). 10 minutes driving to Balmoral which was the main reason of our overnight staying here. Excellent room, very nice equipped. Perfect breakfast, one can choose almost whatever wants and the quality and quantity is enormous.
This former church has been tastefully converted, enabling retention of the original features. Auld Kirk Hotel is situated in the heart of picturesque Royal Deeside. The hotel is very-very stylish! And it's modern - it has good bed, good mattress and pillows, modern, very clean bathroom, the heating is regulated. The breakfast was tasty and with its cost. Very good impressions!

We love Ballater I’ve been coming for years since my childhood so I’ve a soft spot for it. Lots of walks hills river clean fresh air & easy to reach other locations. Good range of shops & places to eat especially recently & its great to see a great community spirit & friendliness towards visitors with businesses & residents rebuilding their homes & reopening their businesses after the set back of the flood a couple of winters ago. Great caravan & camp site too. People please keep visiting this lovely wee town 😃
A good variety of shops and an ideal centre for exploring and walking We had great meals at the Alexandra and the chip shop but the Deeside Inn was a dreadful meal. It was not busy but the food was not hot and the mashed potato and pie was tasteless. They cut the bill in half.
A beautiful place and one of our favourites and this is the third visit in a year. The Balmoral pub is very welcoming and the food is superb. It has just undergone a refit with very pleasing results. Lots of different local shops which is nice to see away from the usual offerings of most city centres in the UK. Scenery is breathtaking which is why we get pulled back like magnets. A calm and tranquil location. Cannot wait to go back again.
A lovely village with lots of walks in the area. A great selection of coffee shops and restaurants. We had possibly the best curry we’ve ever eaten in one of the Indian restaurants. We also over indulged in the ice cream shop but we did enjoy ourselves! We also went home with supplies from the butcher. I would thoroughly recommend Ballater.
Because of the many times I’ve stayed in Ballater I would find it difficult to be negative about anything. India on the Green is a very good restaurant as is I hear the Romsey Room. The School House is a fantastic B&B run by a most wonderful couple. I’m eagerly awaiting the re-opening of the Darroch Learg Hotel which was devastated by fire a few years ago. Numerous stays there and it was one of my favorite hotels in the world.
Ballater is a gem. Many people do not know it but it is a fantastic base for a family holiday - there is so much to do in the area. There is something for everybody- lovely little town to browse around, golf, wonderful walking around from your door, places to visit- Balmoral , Crathie, Braemar etc
Tucked into a really sweet town, the Deeside Inn is the perfect mountain retreat. Fans of Britain’s Royal Family, and whisky alike, will appreciate the proximity to Balmoral Castle and Royal Lochnagar Distillery, while those seeking outdoor activities and scenery will be pleased with the trails, golfing, fishing, (we were there in May, so can’t comment on skiing), and stunning views throughout Cairngorms National Park. Dinner at the bar was delicious (try the chicken and ham pie!), and breakfast in the dining room was equally good.
Modern, clean and stylish ensuite room, hosted by a friendly and welcoming couple (and their two beautiful dogs). The bathroom facilities were great, with a powerful shower! Tea/coffee making facilities plus a small fridge in the room. A simple breakfast is also provided. The place is within walking distance to everything in Ballater, and the hosts are more than happy to tell you where the best spots in town are.
Martin and Amanda have put a lot of love and special attention to each aspect of their B and B. The breakfasts were amazing...from the fresh fruit salad to the robust flavorful coffee. Our room had a lovely view and the bed was most comfortable. A fabulous place to stay in Ballater!
We had a great overnight stay. Nicole was so friendly and the facilities are very clean. The location is the perfect combination of isolation and silence and being close to the next town (Ballater) if you fancy going out for dinner. We wish we could’ve stayed longer...
Very good location in Ballater. Nice hospitality and very comfortable room. Our family of three stayed in the Garden Room and it was really lovely. A great plus was the large bathtub in addition to a shower. The breakfast was delicious. Really a gem of a place.
Really comfy beds, clean rooms, good choice of breakfast, lovely location, 3 miles outside of Ballater but needed the walk after a day on the bike, lovely walk along the old railway track, saw deer and plenty of rabbits.
The hotel is very-very stylish! And it's modern - it has good bed, good mattress and pillows, modern, very clean bathroom, the heating is regulated. The breakfast was tasty and with its cost. Very good impressions!
Great family-run hotel, very friendly, good service, really delicious food, tranquil but still convenient location, fabulous view from front of hotel. Large rooms have plenty of space.
Very nice welcome from staff & large dining & communal area. From my limited experience of hostels this facility seemed better most & very well run.

The location was great for star gazing and easy to reach ballater for restaurants and food
