Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. The Abbey/battlefield and town can be done in a day, but it is a good idea to have an overnight stay so that you can pace yourself and fully enjoy the place.

Battle is a lovely place I have lived in Hastings for 43 years before moving away so I know Battle well. And I would recommend it to people it has lovely pubs and restaurants and a history behind it as it held the 1066 of the Battle of Hastings.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours.

Battle was fine for a couple of hours. We went in on a Saturday when there was a folk festival which was OK. People were very friendly at the town museum and we met a great artist, working with oil paints and coffee on steel. But the highlight of our trip was not Battle but going to Farley's Farm, the former home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Also a great walk along the cliffs from Fairlight to Hastings.

Battle is a cute little town with a medieval village vibe. Lots of history surrounded by lush countryside with a short drive to the beach. Lots of quaint and quirky shops with a huge choice of tearooms and eateries. It is well worth a stroll around with a visit to the Abbey to add some culture.

The people in battle are so friendly.

The people in battle are so friendly. We sat and watched the men’s tennis final and the England woman’s football. We visited all of the bars and pubs in the village. It’s a shame about the noisy motorbikes whizzing through other than that it’s very oldy worldly for shops. I would have loved to of stayed longer and do the historical walks they signposted. Am definitely popping back. Sarah’s cellar is a must such a lovely lady

The Abbey was fantastic, and there are lots of really nice little tea shops. It's a pretty little town and some of the shops looked interesting, but unfortunately I visited on a Monday when most of them were closed. If you want to explore the shops and have a full choice of eating places, I recommend going later in the week. Lots of excellent, well sign-posted routes nearby, particularly for the 1066 walk.

We stayed there during the annual Hastings reenactment event and had a perfect view on the main entrance of the abbey and very short ways to the battlefield. We were welcomed with a nice and delicious carrot cake in the kitchen and even some fresh milk in the fridge. The apartment was the cleanest one we ever had and the interior is super sweet and cosy. We felt super comfortable and enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend this apartment for everybody who visits the area and we will definitely return next year!

We had such an amazing view from our window! The grounds of the hotel were superb, so lovely to walk round the lakes and gardens. Our room was really clean, comfortable and spacious. It was so nice to just sit admiring the view on the comfy sofa positioned perfectly for this. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and all was delicious. The staff were really friendly too. The hotel was located within easy reach of Battle and coastal areas such as Hastings. Would love to stay again some time.

I received a phone call from the hotel early evening to ask when I would be checking in as I was going to be late arriving. The welcome from the owner was lovely, the room was fine, the bed very comfortable and the ensuite small but perfectly formed. The breakfast was very good - bacon egg and tomatoes were beautifully cooked. If I need to stay in Battle again I will book the Abbey Hotel again.
