Set within acres of wooded parkland, this fascinating 13th century fortress is on the banks of the River Esk. Amazing views from our Room! Loved the atmosphere. Very clean and tidy compared to other castles we have stayed at. Will definitely be back!! :)
The Laird And Dog is located in the Midlothian village of Lasswade, 15 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh. It offers a conservatory-style restaurant, rooms with free Wi-Fi and free parking. The staff provide fantastic service and the rooms are very comfortable. Great food and bar service 😃🍺🥂🍾🎉
Situated just outside the historic city of Edinburgh, Greenlees Lodge has a secluded location on a private lane and offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Very friendly, helpful and personable hosts. Exceptionally clean and well appointed room. Plenty of variety at breakfast.
Accommodation in nice setting and other tourist attractions in area - we were there for the Edin Fest which was very busy - limited accommodation so our visit was functional. Bonnyrigg is near motorway but from what we could see during our one night stay, it did not have lots of places to eat. I would recommend not going into Edinburgh via the motorway as the A road journey is much more interesting - lets you see further out part of Edinburgh which is very interesting.
A very attractive older property with lots of character and extremely comfortable. It is situated in a very quiet area and although others were staying there we did not really notice. The owner made us very welcome and could not have been more helpful. Easy access to Edinburgh . We were in there for the Scottish Open Golf at Gullane some twenty five miles away so do not explore the area. The property is in a beautiful secluded area and off the main road best having a gps if possible.
The accommodation was splendid, the hostess delightful and a plentiful supply of foodstuff was available in the price. Very clean and the gardens were spacious and would look lovely in the summer. The bathroom was a tad cold but then it was November when I stayed. If I am in the area next year I will gladly book again
It's a nice small town with every thing you need but not too big and has easy access to Edinburgh and Musselburgh via Bus, there is a large Italian Restaurant some pharmacy's fish and chip shop i(ncluding haggis) and a football club called Bonnyrigg Rose. There are also some very friendly pubs in town and overall I would recommend Bonnyrigg highly. 😃
We stayed at the Dalhousie Castle Hotel and it was fantastic! A magical, charming and wonderful escape from the everyday. The rooms were huge and tastefully furnished. The bed was so comfortable, and the thick walls mean there is no noise of other travelers to interfere with sleep. The food was delicious, the atmosphere simply incredible. We loved our time there and travel to the Edinburgh airport the next morning was about 30 minutes by taxi, and well worth every penny!
The place is wonderful. We just feel like royal family staying in the castle. We booked 3 rooms and all rooms have different themes yet beautiful. The breakfast is not only delicious, but also in generous portion. The dining room also beautiful, we should pass chamber to enter the dining room. Very interesting experience.
I stay at Dalhousie Castle each trip that I depart from Edinburgh. It’s only :30 from the airport—at the height of morning traffic. The rooms are wonderful and the beds are very cozy. The staff is awesome and dinner in The Dungeon is very good. I was in room 22 this trip, usually I’m in room 4. Both are awesome, although 22 has an outdoor balcony that is great.
