Definitely recommend staying at the Lamb Inn at Great Rissington. Only a short drive to Bourton which though lovely gets very busy. Bourton has some good attractions and lots of good places to eat. Really lovely to walk around town. t
beautiful place, very picturesque and pretty lots of quaint gorgeous houses, shops, buildings...real chocolate box looking place. lots of pubs and places to eat, motor museum and BIRDLAND. ALL GOOD,. The only drawback is it is so popular it gets manicly busy with, people, children and dogs. much pleasanter first thing in the morning.
Bourton is a stunning little place. There are plenty of pubs and eateries. Although booking a table for food might be advisable. The beauty of the place is its downfall. When it is busy it gets just too busy. This year there didn't appear to be too many coach loads of visitors. The one section of the river that runs aside the little park area gets rammed with people.
Lovely location, does get busy during the day, easy to walk around , amazingly clean , great choice of pubs and eateries, especially recommend 'The Rose Tree' advise early to eat or book in advance and a good base to explore the Cotswolds' .
Picture postcard village with the beautiful Windrush River flowing through it. We always travel around when we go away for a short break, this time we parked the car & only got back in to go home. It's a wonderful place to just relax, recharge, people and dog watch, paddle if the weathers warm and have great food. The Rose Tree Restaurant was particularly good. Take note, if you are going anytime during peak season, prebook the restaurants!
This place is MAGIC and am absolutely understating this. You can easily walk down to the lower/ Upper Slaughter which were amazing walks. The trip to surrounding areas like reading, Dover Hill, Chipping Norton/ Campden, Biberry,, Moreton in Marsh ...were the Cherry on the cake. The place exemplifies romance. Pls do not miss the Cotswold day tour. Pls do mind that this place is for the ones that out a premium on Quality time with family as opposed to the City / Shopping hustle. The walks and the scenic surroundings were Awesome and i say this after almost visiting the better part of Europe that have been visiting since a decade.
Bourton on the Water
The staff were very helpful and friendly at check-in, giving me information on special offers. There was a slight problem in my room which was dealt with in minutes - very efficient. There wasn't enormous choice for breakfast but I was told that the ingredients for the "full English" were sourced from a local butcher; they certainly tasted good. The property was very characterful, with an excellent location in the centre of the village.
Rooms recently refurbished to high spec and spotless towels/ toiletries replaced each day fabulous breakfast v friendly staff would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Cotswolds as location is ideal.Good sized carpark on site which is free to hotel residents is real bonus too!
Great staff and restaurant . Bar was amazing .. the bartenders made us the best drinks after a long journey. Annie the hotel manager took great care of us - saw to every detail and Adam arranged a private tour to the Cotswolds. It was pure heaven !!
