This is a pretty village with a stream running down the wide main street, but it's far too dominated now by motor traffic. Cars are parked everywhere, with much of the former green taken over for parking spaces, and intrusive traffic forcing pedestrians to the verges (there aren't any pavements in places). The shops serve a wealthy customer base and it's hard to find ordinary items like sandwiches or drinks. On the plus side, there's a very good pub and several very good restaurants, and it's great for people watching. We were there in a very hot summer and it was dusty and dry and there were hardly any seats in the shade. If I were in charge of the town I'd move nearly all the parking out of the central green space, soften up the hard kerbs and remove some of the hard paved areas, and plant more trees with benches for sitting under them. I'd also restore the stream with reed beds and a bit more biodiversity. For now, it feels over-rated and dominated by huge four wheel drive cars.
This was a great place to stay in order to visit the surrounding area. We had a great breakfast at the hotel then went out and about. Returned in the afternoon to relax and then enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening.
Burnham Market is a very pleasant village - somewhat upmarket with a similar range of shops to such as Helmsley and Salcombe. It's handily situated for the coast and there are plenty of small villages nearby to explore. It's much more scenic than we expected, and in some really nice countryside, We'd never seen anything quite like the beach/wetland area and it is a well worth a visit. The roads were quiet when we there.
One of the most picturesque north norfolk villages with a variety of shops and places to eat, enjoyed the food at the Hoste restaurant. The beautiful renowned beaches at Brancaster, Holkham and Wells-next-the sea are close by. Parking is available around Burnham Green itself and a large pay and display car park is available further down the road.
Burnham Market is a pretty place near the Norfolk coast,it has become spoilt re lots of visitors to what it used to be and several changes have taken place some for the worst. The Hoste Arms used Tobit be run privately and was very good but is now owned by a chain and has changed dramatically.
Burnham Market is a fabulous town. It’s an expensive area to visit, most of the properties are unfortunately now second homes. Socius and Bar 29 are great places to eat. The Hoste has lost its way but it wouldn’t take much to bring it up again. A few flowers, candles and to clean the light fittings might be a good start. Also someone to be in control instead of the bar staff. It used to be fabulous would love it to become that again! Good quality shops a definite must to visit.
Excellent location in Burnham Market, with convenient access to all places of interest in north Norfolk coast by bus or by car. Decent room with excellent bed and linen. Very good breakfast. Good value for money.
The location in Burnham market is incredible! Lots of shops to potter around when you stay there. The food we had was really good. My husband had a massage and he said it was one of the best he has had.
Location was quiet and hotel cosy and welcoming.
