We don’t know this place at all. It’s off our beaten track. My grandson lives in the area and held his wedding at the wedding barns in April. We stayed at St. George’s park hotel on that occasion … because they couldn’t hold a reception due to covid so put the party off until this week. I didn’t like St George’s Park hotel, the food was awful and the noise of drills was deafening … so I searched for somewhere that I thought was nearer enough for an overnight stay. The taxi cost £20 each way to get there which wasn’t great, but the stay at Dovecliff Hotel was lovely.
Burton on Trent is a typical midland industrial town. The countryside around is very picturesque with a few National Trust places nearby and the National Arborium to see as well as many quaint villages scattered around.
The accommodation block corridor had an unpleasant smell. On arrival it was apparent that there was or had been a previous issue of security because entry into the reception and drinks/dining areas was only possible by getting a staff member to give access. The staff were not prepared to give reasons for the added security precautions.
They cancelled my booking last minute, I'd booked months in advance, no explanation, no help to find alternative accommodation, no help when asking for taxi recommendations, no reply about check in time, won't use again, found staff on the phone rude and unhelpful, kept talking over me she just wasn't interested,
We visit Burton on Trent once a year to meet up with friends. The Ibis Budget (formerly Travelodge) is what it says - a budget hotel but it is clean and ideally situated for the station and for the National Brewery Centre. We had a wonderful meal at Veneziaa which is a ten minute walk and enjoyed the beers and hosting of Richard, Mandy and their son Matthew at The Weighbridge opposite the Ibis. We also enjoyed a very nice breakfast at Langans Tearooms.
It's a very nice and interesting town with lots of brewing history. There plenty of pubs and eating places, we went to the Clay Pot Indian Restaurant which was excellent and if you like Indian food I would highly recommend eating here.
The working hotel staff gave excellent customer service and were extremely helpful during a period of staff absence. We have stayed in this hotel previously, when visiting friends and family in the Staffordshire area, the previous good customer service encouraged us to book there again. Meals taken were perfect for that current need and breakfasts were particularly enjoyable. The room suited our needs also - excellent bathroom facilities and comfortable beds

Location in central Burton made access to the town easy with on street parking outside the property. The accommodation was well appointed, clean and came with all those travel essentials and everyday practical extras, like washing up liquid and extra toilet rolls, to make the stay pleasurable. Information from the owners was clear and delivered in a timely fashion. Would certainly make use of this property or one of the others available when in the area again

Clear instructions Communication from host I love the fact it was in a secure place. Access by code worked well. I loved the layout of the property, the kitchen was my best feature. The complimentary welcome gift from host and the table was placed beautifully and layed for two. Decor had original features Near Burton Town Centre Two main stores opposite, Aldi and B&M

Excellent accommodation with secure parking, very clean. Very well equipped best that we have visited. Less than 10 min stroll into the town Centre. Plenty of places to visit locally. Would highly recommend Peel House for a self accommodation stay in Burton-upon-Trent.
A very nice hotel in a peaceful area. The staff were very friendly and the check in procedure was fast and efficient. Room was great and bed comfortable with tea making facilities in the rooms. I did not eat there but wish i had as it looked great.
We were the for a football tournament so the location was perfect. Rooms and beds were lovely and the general decor of the hotel is very much in keeping with the theme. Staff at the Spa were exceptional.
The hotel is beautiful and located in a lovely area. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfy! Great facilities and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The hotel is dated. Looks like it’s not been decorated since it was built? By far and away the dirtiest and shabbiest hotel I’ve ever stopped in
Location great, inn itself amazing full of history and character. Staff friendly and helpful. Spotlessly clean both public areas and room.
Very convenient for railway station. Close to town centre. Exceptionally clean. Historic building. Very good value for money.
Location good two minutes from town centre.
