Location is perfection. Right in the middle of the old part of the city and a very short walk to the cathedral. The Family room in the attic was great, we opened the window and listened to the birds, there was a door between the master bedroom and the kids room which is always nice. Breakfast was lovely.

Nice grounds and in a quiet location, although close enough to Canterbury for a quick drive.

Canterbury’s religious and historic significance has inspired literary greatness. Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ were based on pilgrimages to the bygone shrine of Thomas A Becket, who was murdered here. The Marlowe Theatre is named after the 16th-century playwright born here, and the Canterbury Museum has an exhibit on Rupert Bear, whose author lived in this River Stour city.
River cruises and punting provide fantastic views of the striking weavers’ houses right on the water, and of Westgate - the UK’s largest city gate. Other sections of the city walls remain, and there are also ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey, named after the 6th-century saint who brought Christianity to England. He was the first Archbishop of Canterbury, but the modern-day seat is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral, dating to the 12th century.
From the same period are the Norman castle ruins, occupying the site of a wooden fort constructed by William the Conqueror. The mound they sit on in Dane John Gardens is thought to be a Roman cemetery, and an original mosaic is visible in the Roman Museum.
In the Buttermarket half-timbered houses and historic inns are interspersed with shops, and big name brands line the Whitefriars Shopping Centre. The Canterbury accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap hostels and city centre B&Bs.

We loved exploring the Kent area whilst based in Canterbury. We did 3 x Day trips - to Whitstable, Margate and Ramsgate. Then the White Cliffs of Dover and on our final day did a day trip to Dover Castle.

Beautiful with loads of independent shops.
Beautiful with loads of independent shops. Really beautiful gems around the cathedral. Difficult to find decent parking in town. Public car parks not cheap and can’t vouch for their safety. Most city centre hotels don’t have their own car parks…which is a big problem.

Charming historic and very walkable.
Charming historic and very walkable. The cathedral is a must to visit. We also did a ghost walk which was hugely entertaining. The town has an eclectic mix of eateries , big name stores peppered with interesting independents.

I know Canterbury well as parents have lived in many locations surrounding the area including Reculver, Herne Bay, Seasalter, Whitstable. Not easy to get around from area to close area outside Canterbury using taxis. No taxis from various train stations to various surrounding areas. When travelling with friend in wheel chair it was a nightmare. Could not get any taxis. Luckily we were able to rely on relatively good bus services using disabled free bus passes.

The cathedral was beautiful !
The cathedral was beautiful ! The neighborhood has a lot of walkable streets wear tennis shoes though uneven pavements , very unsafe feeling environment where cycles park. There is limited parking there so you have to park blocks away and pay a premium.

We only stayed one night and saw everything we wanted to around the city; had we come by car we would have gone further afield and I am sure there were buses but this was deliberately a one night city break and we covered everything by walking.
Local independent shops were good, Corkk for English wines and good coffee shop opposite Burgate Coffee Shop with fantastic cakes. The Parrot and The Dolphin served good food and drinks.
The Lodge is positioned in the grounds of the Cathedral, which is perfect for looking around the centre of Canterbury.
Plus, you have free access to the Cathedral itself, Staff are welcoming and helpful and the rooms are excellent with a view of the Cathedral from your bedroom bay window. I would reccomend not missing out on the breakfast, which is cooked to order and the serving staff look after you very well.
Overall, its a bit more pricey than the usual well known hotels, but, the overall experience is well worth the price.
Really enjoyed our stay in Canterbury Cathedral lodge. Very nice clean hotel with views from your window of the cathedral. Really nice that even after the cathedral grounds are closed to the public, with your key card to your room, you can get access to the cathedral grounds through the main gate to walk as you will. Kind of fun at night after hours. Front desk staff girls were excellent. Very informative and helpful. Had to park off site, but it was a short, easy walk through the interesting city streets. Excellent breakfast.
This was my wife's favourite place to stay during our break. It was clean. It was also quiet, which impressed me given one evening there was live music in the pub below. By chance, they happened to serve my favourite beer from my student days, and I can assure you I did test it, although not in my student day style.
The Inn is very well placed to explore both Canterbury and the surrounding area, being in walking distance of the town centre, well placed for driving, and very close to one of the railway stations.
Location was amazing, close to the town centre but far enough away that there was no traffic or noise.
Room was perfect, bigger than expected. Ticked all the boxes for a B&B and the bed was super comfortable.
Great choice of food for breakfast. Staff were accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
The back garden was lovely and peaceful, a nice additional feature to have that most hotels don't think about. Look forward to out next trip to Canterbury!
Breakfast and dinner was great, plenty of choices, well presented and very tasty.

Did enjoy our stay there.
Room was comfortable, with en-suite, tv, tea and coffee facilities. No iron in room but easy enough to get hold of one from reception.
Bar area available as well as eating facilities. We only had breakfast on one day which was alright, would prefer to eat out at a local cafe if staying again.
Plenty of parking available.
The hotel is a lovely 15 minute walk outside the centre of Canterbury.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
We absolutely loved our stay, our room was very cute overlooking the Cathedral and we loved the welcome note giving the history of the property. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, Rob gave some great recommendations as did Monica and we were made to feel completely at home! The location is fantastic, right in the centre of Canterbury. Breakfast was lovely. Would highly recommend! Thank you to all of the team!
Very tidy and lovely room equipped with everything you need. A good bed and nice bathroom. Location is convenient as well — it’s literally a 3 minute walk to everything you need in the area. Literally nothing bad to say! Definitely staying there if I ever have to go to Canterbury again. Would highly recommend you do the same!
Plenty of free parking, nice room, very helpful pleasant staff. A 20 minute walk to the City Centre, or there's regular buses from around the corner. Canterbury itself is a fantastic place, and well worth a visit. Would definitely stay at the same Hotel again, and plan to in the future.
Lovely boutique hotel in the centre of Canterbury. Staff were professional and helpful.
Excellent value for money with delicious continental breakfast included. Hotel also assists with booking your vehicle into one of the carparks a few minutes walk from hotel.
Staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived before check in time but no problem leaving bags at hotel for a couple of hours. Location was excellent for seeing Canterbury on a 3 day weekend visit. Breakfast was very good, plenty of variety and good quality.
Great facilities location. Immaculately clean and presented and easy checking in with excellent parking. Easy short walk into central Canterbury as well as a base to explore with car. No fussing with parking compared to hotels inside city walls
Hotel staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was easy to access our room, request anything that we needed. It was particularly helpful to leave the car and walk into Canterbury and avoid the hassle of parking in the city center.
- great location. The city centre is across the road from the property. The property isn’t far from Canterbury East station. The area is so diverse that they have an Asian grocer and corner shop.
- friendly people.
-love the decor.
Nice flat in a quiet block. Excellent location within walking distance of the centre of Canterbury. Lovely comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, comfortable seating area. Parking is a real bonus especially in Canterbury.
The variety of breakfast options was very good, with vegetarian and vegan options available. The city centre location was excellent, the hotel is just behind the main shopping area and just off the High Street.
Perfect location. Excellent hotel, staff, service, facilities, room and breakfast. Would definitely stay again on a visit to Canterbury with only approx 15min walk to city centre. Throughly recommend.
