NO SEA VIEW. FROM BORDING HOUSE. CARBIS BAY BEACH IS VERY NICE CLEAN AND TIDY GOOD FACILITIES. DIFFICULT TO ACCSESS BY CAR UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY £20 PARKING FEE. PARK AT THE TOP AND WALK DOWN, THE WALK BACK IS VERY HARD NOT SUITABLE FOT ELDERLY PEOPLE UNLESS YOU ARE VERY FIT. CARBIS BAY IT SELF IS VERY SMALL AND NOTHING MUCH TO DO ONLY THE BEACH.
Beautiful white sandy bay with restaurant, bar and toilets. Access is via a very steep hill but there is a small car park but costly at £20 a day. Going down to the beach is fine, but going back up is a struggle, especially in this heat wave we’re currently having!!
St Merryn Hotel, our room was comfortable for a base to travel around Cornwall, using the regular bus service which was 150mts away. we used Costa's located in Tesco's for breakfast and other meals were easily available on our travels.
The coastal path very close to this hotel is a joy to walk on. Lovely peaceful walk going west (20 mins) to St. Ives, and you can return the same way and continue walking all the way along coastal path through Carbis bay to Lelant. It is the most picturesque route of sea views and enclosed footpaths with pretty wild flowers either side. Carbis bay itself is a little too commercial and busy for my taste but you can easily continue past it towards Lelant. All the time, coastal path is very close to railway line, which I liked, and I could get the train back from Lelant to Carbis bay when too tired to walk back, and short walk back to hotel (St. Merryn) . There used to be a small cafe doing exquisite cream tea in the old station house at Lelant station. Sadly no more I discovered this time, but still a beautiful part of the world,
If you enjoy a 'home from home' experience with warm welcome, a cosy yet quirky place to rest your head, and conveniently quiet base to explore from then this is the place to go:-) Especially nice for creatives and explorers, with a view of the sea from the breakfast room, maybe take an hour or so to indulge yourself and paint a seascape! That's what I'll be doing on my next visit, for sure! I've stayed in so many different B&Bs over the years as I absolutely love St Ives however, this one feels like it has a heart and is drawing me back for a return visit; and I'm sure you will feel the same, so why not give it a go! Absolutely nothing to dislike, just take it easy and enjoy the experience.
St Ives is a small nice town. Probably quieter and more relaxed than Penzance. Near the bay there are several beaches with white soft sand and splendid views. The most recommended spot is The Island. You can see the entire town and most beaches down from the small chapel on the top. Sunset scene is so beautiful.
Carbis Bay
The room was cold, apparently some work was being carried out to the shower and a hole put through a pipe. There was a constant knocking noise from the floor of pipes banging together all through the night. The booking made via Booking.com was confusing as it looks as though you have paid full amount but on the day was asked for the difference as only half the amount was taken online. However, The hotel did not offer any form of refund after explaining the situation of getting no sleep.
St Ives
Lovely welcome from the owners who were friendly and easy to talk to. The property was immaculate and my room was gorgeous with a lovely view across the roof tops to the sea. Huge TV and a lovely cosy bed. The breakfast was super tasty and it was a lovely bright conservatory area where I ate. A great place for easy access to Carbis Bay beach, the station and onwards to St Ives.

Breakfast excellent, location fine as close to lovely Carbis Bay though immediate area rather depressing as among council-house type buildings. Found the interior decor depressing too! Outside patio/garden was great.
