The hospitality of the staff was exceptional and the many public rooms, terrace and garden are exceptionally beautiful. The location across from the race course and within a lovely short walk into town, it has a unique and lovely quiet situation. Rooms overlooking the race course have binoculars for viewing the races! The homemade Cartmel flapjacks provided in the rooms are heaven.

Our room was beautifully decorated, the shower room was exceptional, the bed really comfortable and the sheets were luxurious. The staff were wonderful, Gillian was especially good, she couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast in the dining room was superb, lots of choice and beautifully cooked with delicious pastries. Both the dining room and the sitting area in the hall had log fires which added to the atmosphere. There was limousine service to and from Cartmel in the evenings. There was also a mini bar in the room and unlimited coffee and tea. Dogs are welcome in some of the rooms. The complimentary glass of champagne on arrival was a lovely touch.

    The property is in an excellent location right in the middle of Cartmel which means you can walk to all the brilliant restaurants and pubs. There is a parking space too which was a bonus but also if there’s more than one car, you can park at the race course which is less than 5 minutes walk and quite reasonable at £35 for a weeks parking. The cottage is well equipped in the kitchen and a nice touch to provide a bottle of fizz and some chocolates on arrival. Also tea, coffee and sugar provided

    Excellent location, on street parking directly outside with permit (provided). Warm and cosy and easy to adjust temperature of central heating. Very clean. Bathroom was a lovely size and all rooms were well equipped and comfortable. It was exactly what we had hoped for. A great location for dining in Cartmel.
