We very much enjoyed our stay at The Downe Arms Hotel. It is a great place to use as a base for traveling around the area. The room was big and the beds were comfortable. The young bartender downstairs was very welcoming and efficient, the meals they serve are huge and good value . Also glad to have the private parking out the back

The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn, hotel in Castleton

Located in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 25 miles from Dalby Forest, The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn has accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking and a bar.

The Jack and Jill Coaching Inn offers an excellent location to explore some lovely coast. We managed to visit Whitby, Staithes and Runswick Bay, as hoped! The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained, The family room was perfect for both us and our 7 year old. It exceeded our expectations. It was like new. The room and hotel has lots of character whilst being also being modern and stylish. There is a good communal space to relax in- for a drink and cake or evening meal. We did both! If you are crazy golf fans like us, I would highly recommend trying out the one at the Jack and Jill Coaching Inn: it has18 holes, very well- maintained and some clever designs. This was a great bonus.

The Board Inn - Lealholm, hotel in Castleton

The Board Inn - Lealholm enjoys a location in Whitby, 27 miles from Peasholm Park and 29 miles from The Spa Scarborough.

Everything was made really easy by the hosts from check in to check out, even taking our breakfast order on check in and booking us a table which made it so much easier in the morning. Our room was lovely and dog friendly which was great for our cocker. We even had a jacuzzi bath! A lovely unexpected touch for a quick night away.

The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt...

The best part of staying at the Old Barn is without a doubt the stunning location and scenery. It is a peaceful haven surrounded by wildlife and the wonderful North York Moors. Its a great central location to visit the lovely coastline here such aa Whitby, Staithes, Saltburn etc and a special treat for us was to go to Ravenscar and see the grey seal colony. Blakey Ridge nearby holds a special place in my heart as does Rosedale where you will see some fantastic views. A drive up Chimney Bank in Rosedale is a must, whwre you will find the old disused kilns, and a lot of quality walks. All of this without being too far from shops, pubs and restaurants. We will definitely be going back again when we get the chance. Can't wait for the next visit!

The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming.

The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming. We could quite comfortably sit in the pub, read, listen to the locals chat and eat some delicious food. Breakfast was perfect to set us up for a long day of walking and the views were beautiful.
