We had a wonderful stay at Hornsbury Mill! We arrived a little late for dinner but the hosts did everything to accommodate us. We were also upgraded to the big suite which was a very generous and welcome surprise, especially as we had cycled to the hotel from Marlborough. A fantastic venue with wonderful staff, really nice food and local ciders. Really beautiful place too!

Set in Chard, Bath House Hotel offers accommodations with free WiFi and TV. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy squash on site, or go cycling or fishing in the surroundings. The staff was so attentive and nice. We have really enjoyed our stay here. We were visiting the Jurassic Coast for the weekend and couldn't really find anything in the area. The Bath House Hotel was only a 25 minutes drive from Lyme Regis. Every room had a 'theme' and the decor was different and really cute. The staff made sure that they are respecting Covid-19 regulations, our temperatures were taken when we arrived and we were provided with hand sanitiser. We felt extra safe especially considering travelling in these challenging times. Breakfast was really tasty and great and we were provided a huge choice of options to go for the night before, that was freshly prepared for us in the morning.

A small market town with a Sainsbury's supermarket and all the amenities you expect from a town this size. There is a car park outside Sainsbury's which charges, 65p per hour, but you can get the charge back if you spend more than £10 in store. Chard has more banks than my own market town. The people I spoke to were pleasant and did not seem to mind answering questions from someone who was obviously from out of town. A 5 min drive in any direction put you into the countryside and its location was central enough so that we could get where we wanted to go in a reasonable drive (35min). There is a small local museum but it was closed when we were there. The only criticism I have is the general lack of car parking and the overuse of yellow lines to restrict parking.
A great place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy seaside resorts, but easily accessible to the coast and other places of interest. Plenty of places to eat out in Chard or within a five minute drive, although booking is recommended. The guest house is tucked away from the main street so extremely quiet and the on site parking is a bonus.
We didn't go to Chard as were down for my daughter's wedding so spent our time preparing for the wedding at church and reception venue. So sorry, but didn't visit Chard therefore cannot comment.

Stayed i Dolphin --- had own private entrance our apartment had fridge microwave iron hairdryer tea/ coffee making facilities we ate in Bath house Twice fantastic meal staff very friendly
Chard, although small, is a lovely town filled with fantastically friendly people and a brilliant night life. It's ideally located for those wishing to see more of the south west. It's an easy town to navigate. My only observation would be that there seems little choice for evening eating, but perhaps upon a longer stay and more time to explore I might retract that statement.
Not a part of the country we know well. Just stopped off to break a long journey. We liked the area very much and we were recommended various places to visit. We will return next spring to explore the area more.
