Set in Chard, Bath House Hotel offers accommodations with a TV. Cycling can be enjoyed nearby. Exeter is 30 mi from the bed and breakfast, while Sidmouth is 24 mi away. The staff was so attentive and nice. We have really enjoyed our stay here. We were visiting the Jurassic Coast for the weekend and couldn't really find anything in the area. The Bath House Hotel was only a 25 minutes drive from Lyme Regis. Every room had a 'theme' and the decor was different and really cute. The staff made sure that they are respecting Covid-19 regulations, our temperatures were taken when we arrived and we were provided with hand sanitiser. We felt extra safe especially considering travelling in these challenging times. Breakfast was really tasty and great and we were provided a huge choice of options to go for the night before, that was freshly prepared for us in the morning.

Hornsbury Mill, The Lordleaze Hotel And Restaurant, and The Dolphin Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Chard.
Chard was lovely and there were surprisingly a decent number of things to do. We did some outdoorsy things, and also ate at a great restaurant. We loved exploring Lyme Regis and going berry picking at Forde Abbey. Definitely a place you want to visit in good weather or else you might be stuck inside.
It is a small but friendly town. It has plenty of choice of eateries , a selection of shops and supermarkets. The town is not far from the coast and has several interesting national trust places in easy reach. The scenery around the area is outstandingly beautiful with many areas for walking.
A small market town with a Sainsbury's supermarket and all the amenities you expect from a town this size. There is a car park outside Sainsbury's which charges, 65p per hour, but you can get the charge back if you spend more than £10 in store. Chard has more banks than my own market town. The people I spoke to were pleasant and did not seem to mind answering questions from someone who was obviously from out of town. A 5 min drive in any direction put you into the countryside and its location was central enough so that we could get where we wanted to go in a reasonable drive (35min). There is a small local museum but it was closed when we were there. The only criticism I have is the general lack of car parking and the overuse of yellow lines to restrict parking.
A great place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy seaside resorts, but easily accessible to the coast and other places of interest. Plenty of places to eat out in Chard or within a five minute drive, although booking is recommended. The guest house is tucked away from the main street so extremely quiet and the on site parking is a bonus.
We didn't go to Chard as were down for my daughter's wedding so spent our time preparing for the wedding at church and reception venue. So sorry, but didn't visit Chard therefore cannot comment.
We were in Chard for funeral. Found it very easy to get around everything within walking distance. Plenty of grocery shops, places to stay, places to eat / drink. Stayed i Dolphin --- had own private entrance our apartment had fridge microwave iron hairdryer tea/ coffee making facilities we ate in Bath house Twice fantastic meal staff very friendly
We had a wonderful stay at Hornsbury Mill! We arrived a little late for dinner but the hosts did everything to accommodate us. We were also upgraded to the big suite which was a very generous and welcome surprise, especially as we had cycled to the hotel from Marlborough. A fantastic venue with wonderful staff, really nice food and local ciders. Really beautiful place too!
very clean cosy room and en-suite. Was so nice to see curtesy milk for tea, and bottles of water in the fridge as there were no shops open in the vicinity to buy anything when we arrived at the hotel at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening after a full day sightseeing on the Coast!

We had a lovely 4 night stay at this hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and always on hand to help. Difficult to find fault and would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Chard
The Ammonite Guest House is probably the best place I've stayed. I prefer the ethos far more than a large impersonal hotel. The cleanliness is perfect and James and Catherine are very hospitable. The cooked breakfast is very tasty. I shall be back!
I had a broken bed when I got to the hotel. The staff did their best to give me an alternative bed and they were terribly apologetic about the inconvenience. They even offered a refund against my stay. Nothing beats their hospitality
The hotel was making supreme efforts to be Covid-safe which inevitably made for a slightly sterile ambience. The food was good and the staff helpful – although as they were all masked interaction was limited.
