Brilliant location for visiting Chatsworth House and Bolsover Castle.
Loved the market town vibe and the twisted spire on the church was fascinating. No climbs inside, til the spring and summer though.
Some fascinating architecture to see and a brilliantly helpful Tourist Information Office where we got a couple of town walk maps.

Second only visit to the city of the "Twisted Spire" even though only for a brief stay over pleasant enough. Have to add the young lady who booked us in at the Spread Eagle was absolutely charming and a credit...will surely have no hesitation in re-booking...so it's a Ten! from Len :)

What attracted me was the proximity to Chatsworth and the Peak District. Quick drive to and from Baslow.
Did not eat in Chesterfield but in the "Il Lupo" in Baslow (excellent Italian restaurant)

The outdoor market...what a joke, only a handful of stalls!
The outdoor market...what a joke, only a handful of stalls! Not worth a trip. No disrespect to those who work there but the place was empty!!! We spent more money on parking!!! Nice meat purchased at the indoor market and theres a well stocked cheese shop. The council need to update their website and let travellers know what to expect from the town centre.
Can't think of any reason to return.
Very pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. First time in a Wetherspoons Hotel and if you put me in the room and told me to guess were I was I would say Travel Lodge or Premier Inn. Staff were great and helpful and the usual fare on offer in the restaurant and good value for money. I find it hit or miss with some Wetherspoons ranging from very abusive staff poor food to really pleasant and welcoming as was the case with The Portland Hotel Couldn't fault the staff or meals at all.
Well appointed room. Tea/ coffee machine. Very Delicious fruit scone on arrival in room. Fresh milk, butter ,water in fridge which was much appreciated. Breakfast superb, attentive staff .First time at this hotel and prefer it here to the others I've stayed in around the chesterfield area. I would imagine in summer the amazing views would be even more enjoyable. You won't be disappointed here.
Lovely clean hotel. The beds are the comfiest bed I've ever slept in, in a hotel.
Staff very welcoming and always smiling which goes a long way for me.
Bar and cocktails were great and reasonably priced too.
Nice to have an 11am check out to give you that little extra time.
Will definitely be returning!!
Lovely modern hotel.. our room had a great size with a fantastic bathroom incl. big bathtub and separate shower. The bed was super comfortable.
We had a great dinner at the adjacent pub and staff in the entire hotel was very friendly and welcoming. Location was great being super close to the peak district.
spacious two bedrooms both with on suite sofa bed in lounge
televisions in bedrooms and lounge
apartment well stocked with everything we needed
microwave kettle and toaster
supermarkets and Chesterfield city centre within ten minute walk or two mins by car
really comfortable beds
The room was small but excellently laid out, entrance was secure and in a quiet location with continental style breakfast. Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed it all. Really liked that the owner Jill was very friendly and accessible should we need her. Would happily stay again.
Location not great. Chesterfield is being rebuilt! The hotel was great. A total restoration of an old historic building done at great expense. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice bar, good food. Bedroom very clean and smart. Good private parking area.
This hotel is Spanish owned the only Casa hotel ln the UK. The quality of the building the friendly staff and the excellent food on offer. This is the first Casa UK it won't be long till their are more. 5 star + at 4 star pricing.
Lovely and quiet yet located right in the centre of Chesterfield. Staff were really friendly and the meal we had in the restaurant was delicious. Good range of breakfast choices. Big comfy bed. Can highly recommend.
Hotel was easy to find, and only a £6-£7 taxi fare from chesterfield centre. You'll need a taxi to go find some food...see later comments! Room was ok, with a big comfortable bed
Location good for visiting Chesterfield Town centre and Chatsworth and some friends in the area. A nice extra was having a goodie basket. The studio was well planned and warm.
Lovely room - comfy bed - great shower - stayed in room 3
SLow with coming back with invoice had to chase
Breakfast was OK small and tasted deep fried rather than grilled
Excellent breakfast. Cleanliness throughout. Parking on site and on good bus service into Chesterfield whose town centre hotels don't have onsite parking.
