The Farm House, Chippenham is located in Chippenham. The accommodations is 18 mi from Swindon. The house was lovely and very comfortable. The grounds would be even better minus the rains. Very good value. Martin also came to set up the house in time for our expected arrival.
The town is small with many nice restaurants and coffee shops. We ate at Athena - lovely Greek restaurant. The Lounge Bar is always buzzing - great for a small meal and drinks. The town does not have a lot to do: a cinema, small theatre, good shops, museum and a market some days. We found many walks which loop around the town. There are very good bus links and a train station. With a car you can explore the beautiful surroundings - the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire with their many small towns. We visited Castle Coombe - amazing and Lacock, both worth a visit and if you like walking can be a full days outing.
The hotel was fine, their staff are useless. They charged me twice for a one night stay. I have contacted them by email and through Booking.com but they do not respond. (Shane did but merely passed the buck to someone else.) If you telephone them you get an indistinct response with various choices read out far too quickly to understand. A month now and still they will not shell out, It was their error, it is their responsibility to correct it.
Beautiful countryside/views Visited our friends at their campsite Plough Lane which was quiet and serene. Tried various pubs and cafes all of which were very pleasant Burton on The Water was one of our favourite places. Parking was a little difficult which we expected.
Nice town, visited the Museum and staff were very knowledgable, unfortunate it was in the Covid time so couldn't see everything we wanted to. Plenty of nice cafes to eat outside at table with friendly people.
Chippenham region is very close to Bath and Stonehenge. We have used the area as a stop by from Bath to Oxford and finally realized that we could spend a day more there to explore area. Don't miss the famous White Horses, sculptured figures on the hills.
the hotel itself was very dated and run down, the bathroom for was dusty, the shower mat was discoloured the towel rail was dirty, the double bed frame was broken at the front, the beds themselves were uncomfortable and being 8 months and a half pregnant it didn’t do me any justice (I barely slept). My step daughter felt uncomfortable to take her socks off as the place just didn’t feel clean. The pillows were flat. The kettle had scale in it. I dare look at the mattresses. If it wasn’t so late at night and we would of possibly not stayed here. And the break was something else, we ordered 3 full Englishs which looked like it was under and possibly out date. It’s over priced too. AVOID at all costs!! This place needs more than some loving it needs closing down to be quite honest if you can’t maintain the basic need to run a hotel don’t open one. Won’t be returning that’s for sure.
The room was clean and in a perfect location to explore Chippenham and the surrounding areas. The host were very friendly and helpful. The shower had good pressure too. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay for our little break away
