The beach was a great place to take on board the fresh air. There was also a great esplanade if you don't fancy walking on the sand. There were lots of amenities, amusements arcades, restaurants and things to keep you busy and entertained.
Clacton is lovely the sunniest place in the country. Parts are quite shabby HOWEVER there are gems of excellence like Franco’s Resaurant and The Flags beach cafe. The Pier had a very tasteful and well done Christmas display. No Marks & Spencer or Sainsbury’s any more though.
I'm not passionate about on-sea towns. Also, I've visited the town in October. This is a town for summer. A few arcades, restaurants, beaches and... nothing else. It's a good place to sleep but there's nothing to do.
Clacton isn`t the prettiest place on the planet but it`s by the sea and that will do for me. The pier is good for the young ones and not too expensive either. The town centre is close to the sea front so no long trek into town dragging the kids along behind. There are quieter places around like Holland (no, not that one), or Frinton. I am probably bias because I like to just sit and watch the sea- especially with a pint or four in front of me. Oh, and if you really want one of those cuddly toys, go to a toy shop or order it online before you spend a complete fortune in those pesky machines.
As it was the end of September many of the beachside cafes were closed. Walked to the end of the pier which was very quiet with no rides open. Mostly just amusement arcades with slot machines although we enjoyed a game of crazy golf. Town very run down. Parking at hotel £12 for 24 hours as they do not have dedicated parking for guests. Disappointed with view from balcony of amusement park opposite and disused plot of land to the side. Dinner at the Blackrock Restaurant near the hotel was excellent and would definitely recommend this. Food at the hotel was good and there is also a Weatherspoons Pub which is located under the hotel rooms which could be very noisy in high season.
The beach and gardens are definitely worth a visit so peaceful and relaxing. The views and scenery were amazing. Everything was within a short walk, from my guesthouse to the beach less than 5 mins in one direction and shops less than 5 mins walk in the opposite direction. The train station was about 10-15 mins away from the guesthouse. Supermarkets were 30 min walk. Lovely place to visit and will be returning. I didn't eat in any of the restaurants as i was alone and didn't want to attract attention to myself being a single female but would definitely have tried out these had i not been alone.

The caravan is very spacious, plenty of room in the open plan kitchen living room, nice terrace too and the kitchen is fully equipped if you like cooking. The walk to the seafront is about 45 minutes but you can always order a cab as well. Location of the caravan is right next to all facilities on camp which is very big. The owner who greeted us and gave us the keys was very nice and friendly which frankly started our experience on a very positive note. Highly recommend this place, you'll be surprised about what is has to offer.
Clacton-on-Sea
The property itself exceeded what I was expecting, the pictures do not do it justice. I would recommend to family friends and anyone wanting to spend the night or couple days away in Clacton on sea. The apartment is easy to get into with step by step instructions. The place is secure and safe, can’t get into the main building without a key fob for peace of mind and actual doors to apartment have a unique security code. Also seconds walk from the pier. Amazing place and great host.
The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern and the shower was powerful. I had breakfast in the adjoining pub which was good and value for money. I went to visit my elderly mother and the hotel was only minutes away from where she lives.
