Really enjoyed atmosphere in town, nice country feel. Loved all independent shops and very clean on pavements. One or two of the pubs are past their best. Parking charges on the high side I thought. Really nice along the river, loads of interesting things to do.

The town is interesting for a day but beyond that you need to go further afield. Either back to St Maryport/ Workington/ Whitehaven with its Georgian industrial and social/maritime history. Fascinating. Or on to the top lake district, ie :- Keswick etc The main attraction we would reccomend is the Keswick Pencil Museum, did you know that pencils have always been made from locally derived graphite and not (NEVER) lead??. No, we didn't either!! Journey further south and find the Quaker Museum in Kendall. Home to the Quaker Tapestries which are the history of the Quaker movement through tapestry. 200 years of local history, utterly fascinating. Plus a rather tasy cafe and free parking. Who knew that the Quaker movement was so important in the north west during the 1800s/1900s. Vist to find out more

A lovely little town in a quieter area of the busy Lake District. A world class museum (The Wordsworth House and Garden) dominates the high street with lots of classy cafes and shops to keep us happy. Cockermouth is a good place to base yourself for the Western Lakes and Cumbrian Coast.

The town has a lovely main street with a variety of independent shops and cafe's. Great base for visiting northern lakes area and a bit cheaper than the more popular towns. Didn't try the bus service but it was everywhere and seemed to run regularly, even on a Sunday.

I liked the area as there are some lovely little villages within a 20 mile radius. It was nice to see all around without having to travel far. There is lots to see and do, whatever your heart desires in almost on your doorstep. We had our dinner out in Anna's restaurant and OMG the batter is so crispy and tasty, the chips were crispy on the outside and so soft in the middle. It was such good value and sits right on the sea front.

It is a lovely accommodation in the middle of Cockermouth town. Gillian is so lovely and welcoming. She kept checking on us and offered support . House was amazing with all facilities such as furniture, entertainment for kids, fresh towels and kitchen was equipped with everything. Spacious bedrooms and kitchen. Everything was within the walking distance; Sainsbury’s, one stop and many take aways . Location is near from most of the Lake District attractions. We enjoyed the stay very much. Thanks Gillian and Richard.
The hotel was soo beautiful, it’s very spacious, clean and you just feel so comfortable staying here. It’s right at the centre of cockermouth so everything is local. The cleaner came in and ensured your room was rubbish free and your bed was made for you coming back. You are told that there may be some noise from the bar down stairs but I was staying right above from it and didn’t hear a noise! definitely my favourite place I’ve stayed! we’ll definitely be coming back!
Thank you’s!!
Beautifully appointed and decorated, this small hotel in a quiet street in the centre of Cockermouth, within walking distance to everything, is spotlessly clean and most comfortable. Lovely bed-linens and towels. The photographs on the website are very representative!
The staff are welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.
