Hotel in Cranbrook
In a historic 14th-century building, this beautiful boutique hotel houses 12 unique and individually designed rooms, offering a stunning blend of stylish contemporary design and beautiful original... Really old, quaint hotel with lots of character. The bed was extremely comfortable and all very clean. The reception staff, the servers at both breakfast and dinner and the bar staff were very efficient and friendly. The food at both breakfast and dinner was superb and we would like to give our compliments to the chefs. We will stay here again

We liked everything about Freshwater Barn, it was perfect! Even though we were a little uncertain of our arrival time, Sophie was very accommodating and when we did, finally, arrive, the cottage was very welcoming with lamps lit and the heating on. (The cottage is actually very warm indeed and we found that we didn’t really need the heating on during our stay - just popping it on for about 20 minutes when we got back in the evenings). Sophie had even arranged some Christmas decorations as our stay was over the Christmas period. Everything was beautifully clean, and Sophie had helpfully provided a towel for our dog (although, thankfully, we had also brought plenty of our own as the fields were very muddy). Situated right next to the huge Benenden School estate, there are some beautiful walks, on public footpaths, right next door. For us, visiting from France to spend Christmas with our children for the first time in a couple of years, it was an ideal base from which to go out and visit them all. Finally, just to say that, although not large, the cottage is much bigger than it seems in the photos, which really do not do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful and of a very high standard.
Cranbrook is a pretty, architecturally interesting and lively Wealden town that has plenty of interesting shops, restaurants and bars. The church is well worth a visit, as is the windmill a little outside of the town. The two as a whole is pedestrian-friendly. There is plenty of lovely countryside around and other villages and places to visit if you have a car. For example, Sissnghust gardens are not far away. An excellent weekend break
Quaint little town but a lot of the places to eat were closed in the evening. Takeaway fish and chips, chinese and Indian were open but no eat in options. The focal point of the town, Union Mill was closed for renovations. The Larkins ale house was very popular and our favourite place, but lacked any social distancing and in the evening became very over crowded. The food in The Hive was freshly cooked and delicious but didn’t serve food past about 7.00pm.
No parking. Had to carry bags quite a way to the hotel. I had asked for parking when we booked. Bedroom right next to a very noisy air filter so loud it prevented us sleeping most of the night. The hotel is very tired with worn carpets and bodged repairs on some walls. I would not recommend this hotel.
Cranbrook is a lovely village in the heart of Kent, surrounded by rolling fields and farmland, with very helpful villagers. The local shop stocks everything you could need for your stay. An ideal property if you want to follow the public walk ways and paths. Well worth a visit.
Lovely Small Market Town to stroll around pleasantly and with no hurry. Plenty of history to find out about. Great location, very close to Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens and, Scotney Castle and Gardens, and great Countryside.all around Fabulous places to enjoy ... after joining the NT !!
Perfect location - not too far from London, close enough to the sea which I also got to visit during my trip, there's at least 4 castles within a short drive from Cranbrook, it's surrounded by lovely villages and beautiful countryside and the locals are super-friendly!
The location was in the area I needed to be and I liked the quiet nature of Cranbrook village.
