The Brown Cow pub serves amazing food and has a lovely beer garden to sit in on a sunny day. There are other local pubs but we weren’t sure what was open during current circumstances. The locals were very friendly offering suggestions of where to visit and eat which was very helpful. We visited Ulverston which is just down the road and is another pretty market town well worth a visit as is the local Safari Zoo where you can get up close to lots of animals!
I visited Dalton-in-Furness to go to the zoo which was fab! As we had a 2 hour journey we dicided to stay over night . When we arrived we went to the local leisure centre to the baths. My kids loved the pool , slide and splash area. Out side the leisure centre is a brilliant park. We found a lovely pub/restaurant called The Brown Cow this place has a lovely beer garden and the food was lovely to. Even though stayed here on my own with two kids I found the place really safe and easy to get around. Locals are very helpful and welcoming.
I only slept there as I was attending the Buddhist festival and didn’t have the opportunity of looking around Dalton, however there were several shops and takeaways and a station. It was not too far from Ulverston about 15 minutes by car and 20 minutes to the Manjushri Buddhist centre and temple.
Our accommodation at number 6 was beautiful and super comfy . The south lakes safari zoo had an amazing day out there . The village was so quaint and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful . Jade palace and the town cafe both highly recomended
The pubs were nice and oldie worldly and one in particular (the red lion) had fantastic food(BIG PORTIONS)!!! In fact it was that good,we are going back this Sunday for Sunday roast. Down side wasn't much else to do or see Certainly not a sight seeing location. But not far from more well known destinations.
Lovely town but not enough places to sit and eat .red lion had no customers but when we turned up with 3 quite children they said they where busy and couldn't serve us.? So plan where you eat in advance. The wildlife park was great barrow 5 miles away it great to visit. And plenty of places to eat out.
