Loved the friendliness of the staff and the overall commitment to providing good accommodation at really fair prices! Perfect!

Lovely market town, very compact, would recommend a break there. The Churches were lovely, walks along White sands, beautiful old stone bridge. Plenty of eateries in Dumfries for all tastes. The compactness of the town makes it easy to get around.
I went back to Dumfries for the first time in over 40 years My mother was born and bred there before moving to London about 60 years ago I went back to scatter my mums ashes as was her wishes Dumfries is a lovely place to visit with friendly people. The surrounding countryside is stunningly beautiful. If I ever go back which I hope to do i would hire a car so I could visit the local areas
I wish I could have stayed longer than 2 days. I was there for work but had the opportunity to walk around the beautiful hotel grounds on the day I was leaving…I could not leave without doing so and I’m not a morning person! I would highly recommend this lovely hotel :).
Plenty of history to explore - especially the Robert Burns Centre. The main attractions are all within short distances of each other. But by car the town is not easy to navigate - mainly because of the one-way system. Plenty of 24-hr EV charging facilities. Large number of casual eating places - just take care in selection.
Dumfries is only 30mins from Gretna and the M74/M6. Very easy to get to.... It is a historical town and excellent if, like me, you are a Rabbie Burns fan. Access to Stranraer, Ayrshire and, indeed... Glasgow / Edinburgh is good ..... No lack of bar and restaurants.
Dumfries is a very sprawling place. There are shops all over the place and very spread out. There is a beautiful shop for children called Kid-nap on Queensberry Street if your looking for something special. The river Niff runs through Dumfries and it is a very beautiful place, very green and the colours were beautiful as it was autumn. I loved it. I also went to the quaint town of Moffat which was also lovely.
Dumfries
All the staff were brilliant, the check in staff, the housekeeper, the Restuarant staff were especially excellent. The building was magnificent both internally and externally. Breakfast was fabulous with a wide choice of help yourself items plus a full cooked Scottish breakfast with many extra's if you really wanted them. The room was large with plenty of storage, the shower was double size. The value was excellent. The on site Riverside Walks are brilliant and the Hotel didn't charge for the map they provided.
Dumfries
Second time i've stayed and again the people who run Hamilton House were wonderful The room I had with the double bed was clean, very comfortable and I had plenty of space and was worth every penny. The breakfast was delicious and the dining facilities were warm and welcoming. Hamilton House is close to the train station and not far from the town center so it's ideal for anyone whos' never visited/stayed in Dumfries before. I am really looking forward to going back again soon.

Amanda was a great host, she was very helpful and made us feel very welcome, the room was spacious, the whole hotel and dining room was immaculate, and in a great location for the train station/ town centre both within walking distance, the breakfast was exceptional and the staff serving it where very polite and helpful, also the parking at the front of the hotel was ideal, overall couldn't fault the place, would certainly return, thanks for having us
Nice clean hotel set in lovely grounds. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room service pizza was exceptional. Also enjoyed the breakfast but would have loved a full English, although understandable in the circumstances not having one. Would recommend staying here if you're visiting Dumfries. It's in a great location close to the town centre.
Great value for money hotel set in a nice location on the outskirts of Dumfries on a lovely street. Basic room but perfectly serviceable with everything you need for your stay and a lovely ,welcoming host . Nice seated area outside and friendly bar downstairs. No noise in the rooms. Great breakfast . All in all it was a good stay.Would definitely return. Thank you to everyone at the hotel .
Hotel was very well located easy walk into town centre very nice pleasant helpful staff. Our room was not really suitable for a 6'3 " man with its sloping ceilings in both the bedroom & bathroom I would ask for a lower floor if we stayed again
