I lived in Dunoon for two years 1963-65 and the return visit with my family sixty years later was bittersweet as I remembered the vibrant village of years ago and saw too many closed stores where I used to shop but that is the nature of change. Dunoon owns part of my heart. Best wishes to the leaders there to restore the best of it and lose the shabby shops along the main street. ❤️

Regular ferries.
Regular ferries. Lots of catering and pubs and quirky shops. Beautiful old churches and regular activities in the Castle House museum and the Burgh Hall. Swimminig, cinema, supermarkets. Lovely nature trails, walks and climbs within walking distance of town centre.

Dunoon has a lot of changes over the years i had spent there...
Dunoon has a lot of changes over the years i had spent there, lots of new homes. I lived there 3.5 years was married in Glasgow and lived in Dunoon until I was reassigned back to the states. it was a good change for all but sad to see. but all good loved it.

The weather on the first day was, shall we say, exciting. Torrential downpours which obscured any views. There was some sunny periods on my second day, and I got to see the lovely scenery in and around Dunoon.

Ive visited before as I have friends and godchildren in the area. Don't expect the hustle and bustle of main towns, it has a very slow pace of life, shopping is limited and as I found the ferry's are not always reliable (I had been warned so had made alternative arrangments in the event that this was something that happened.). Locals are friendly and hlepful. The weather when I visited this time was scorching and it was pleasant to walk along the sea front, a great way to have a relaxing or energising walk and enjoy the scenery, whichever suits. Definitely a place to visit if you want to get away from it all and would be great for writers to escape to too.

A tired looking little town, very few people about and not much traffic. Lovely bay and interesting views. Quite clean but shops are dated and not very touristy.
We might go again…if not just for the breakfast at The St Ives Boutique Hotel!

Beautiful location, apartment spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated it has everything you would need in it. Good parking area with secure gates. Perfect for a couple who want relax and recharge. Option of exploring the local area, going for walks or a short drive into the main town which has plenty of cafe's, bars and pubs, lovely walk along the esplanade with fantastic views which on a good day you can see for miles.
Ferry's from Gourock to Dunoon every 10 minutes, great service.

William the owner and his staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
The hotel is spacious, clean and the views overlooking the sea are great.
Being located just outside the town centre was an advantage as less busy but easily walkable.

Breakfast was acceptable. Location of the hotel was nice next to the sea. Bathroom wasn't very clean. Public areas had cobwebs. No dinner available as chef's mother was ill which was OK but this my birthday treat so didn't go as expected

We have stayed at the Park Hotel before and we had a good experience which is why we returned. The location is good. The staff are very pleasant and the hotel is clean. The towels are white and fluffy and the breakfast is excellent.
