Our hosts were very helpful - and the "paper map" they gave us helped us find West Kennet Long Barrow, when "Siri" directed us to a deserted wheat field and left us next to a mound of straw and cow manure! The "primitive" paper map, however, took us directly to this historic site and saved the day! Whew!

Stunning historic landscape, very close to West Kennet Long Barrow and Avebury World Heritage Site. Lots of scenic walking, but best to have a car to get there and for travelling at night. Some great pubs for lunches and dinners in the area.
Loved the fact of it being so near Avebury and The Long Barrow. There’s no pub or eating place in the village so you need to walk to the next village which is about a mile away in the right direction. Good idea to take Ordenance survey map if you don’t know the area.
Avebury stone circle on the doorstep. No need for a car if you’re a walker and the countryside is beautiful. Village of Lacock and Lacock abbey a must for a visit. Lovely are if you like history and rambling. The Bell Inn has delicious food.
East Kennett is a very small village but in the most excellent position for the Ridgeway walks, Avebury and Marlborough. Very close to Woodhenge and the longbarrows as well as a short drive to Avebury and Silbury Hill.
The village is right in the midst of the beautiful countryside and the archaeological sights but it doesn't have a shop or pub. Everything is in easy reach if you follow the very busy A4. The Waggon and Horses was a nice cosy pub for a meal.
