FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Writing a book to describe the city of Edinburgh would be...

Writing a book to describe the city of Edinburgh would be more fitting and more appropriate than to write just a short review. The historical centre city of Edinburgh pours its very own charm and even if you are not so much into history it is a delightful experience. Rarely have I seen a city with such a strong but at the same time gentle spirit. The people have been incredibly polite, kind and amicable. Edinburgh has so much to offer and is a real beauty spot. Always worth a visit.

Loved Edinburgh, historic buildings, the Royal Mile, Princes Street, quite touristy, but I loved it. Some absolutely beautiful buildings ad architecture would have loved to have stayed longer and saw more, but we were travelling around Scotland and had limited time. I will definitely visit again in the future.

So much to do and see.

So much to do and see. Small city but full of nooks and crannies and olde world charm. I was born in Edinburgh so always enjoy going back. Transportation is excellent. Trains to Glasgow, the highlands and London. Local buses to North Berwick and St. Andrews. and Coach buses to Glasgow and the highlands. Free museums, and galleries, and churches. Lots of quaint pubs. The high street (Princes Street) is looking a little tired and neglected. With the view of the castle it should be prime real estate. Too many loud, annnoying tourist cheap shops. What happened to Jenners and Marks and Spencers???

    Amazing history,art,architecture and shopping!

Amazing history, art, architecture and shopping! Magnificent walks up to the Mound or just walking the city. Better shopping than Oxford Street in London! Hop on a tram to see the Royal Yacht Britannia and Leith and of course have coffee and cake. Public transport is great, cheap and lots of it.

Edinburgh is a lovely city if you like beautiful architecture, history, and art. The castle provides an interesting background to the history of the city and marvellous views, as does a climb up Calton Hill. Holyrood Palace is another gem worth a visit. There is a very good art collection at the National Gallery (which is free of charge), including the main Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, Italian Renaissance masterpieces and Scottish art. If you stay at the centre, you can walk to the most important sites on foot. The food is good, but on the expensive side, as is the accommodation. The centre is easy to reach by tram; the transport system provides good connections. Dean Village is a must - a fairy-tale-like place in the heart of the city.

Beautiful family-run boutique hotel above The Canny Man Pub. Very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Super friendly staff. Breakfast at the pub was amazing, loved the selection of hot breakfast choices and continental buffet breakfast. The baguette and croissants were the best I ever had! Quiet location in Morningside with easy access by bus to Edinburgh city centre and beyond. The immediate neighbourhood offers a lot of little shops and restaurants. Highly recommend a stay at The Lane Hotel!

Hotel was modern, excellent facilities and location. Swimming pool was fab. Few minutes walk to tram line which takes your directly into Edinburgh City or From Edinburgh airport. KFC & Krispy Kreme Donuts directly across road. We had our car with us so we had chosen here for the car parking facilities rather than city centre, however I would have no hesitation staying here again if I was to fly over as tram line is so so convenient and cheap.

Very good hotel, big room with comfy bed and very clean and quiet given its near the airport.. Plenty of parking and a lovely breakfast. Pool area is great. Short walk to the train or tram station with frequent trains into Edinburgh. We stayed here during the fringe as it was good value compared to hotels in the city centre

Lovely modern hotel. Room was very nicely furnished and clean, stunning view out the front. Pool area was decent for a bit of relaxation. Location was spot on for an Edinburgh Zoo visit. About £12 in an Uber from the city centre.
