Went to visit The Falkirk Wheel yesterday...amazing engineering and structural design....lots of activities for a family fun day. Facilities fabulous and very vlean. Highly recommended visit whol6sy in Falkirk especially for children.
The train service is fast and cheap and can get to many places for sightseeing. The retail park is brilliant with many shops. The Falkirk Wheel is a must which we got to by a lazy Sunday walk along the canal. Don't miss the ride on the wheel either well worth it's price. Don't miss out the Kelpies either, fascinating to see and a brilliant park around the Kelpies with numerous mobile vans selling food, drinks and Ice cream.
This is a centrally located (small) city midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, an easy light rail ride in either direction. Unique sights to see are the Falkirk Wheel (a boat lift from one canal to a much higher one), and the Kelpies ( a nod to the many horses once used to tow barges along the canals.
Falkirk is a great place to stay and everything is within walking distance if you enjoy a walk kelpies Falkirk wheel are both a 45 minute walk once there there’s plenty to do buses run back and fore to the Falkirk wheel. There’s a big retail park with plenty of stores a cinema lots to do for everyone.
As we only planned to visit the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies, we can only say that both visits were well worth doing. The guided tour of the Kelpies is a must do. Only 30mins but the very informative tour guide, illustrated how much potential Scotland has to offer the world in innovative projects. The parking, was easy, and visitor centres had good quality items for sale. Toilets and cafes were clean with food of a high standard. Loved the chilli concarni at the Kelpies. We didn't realise that there was such a beautiful setting for a full day out with family and our labrador Sam att The HELIX . Well done Falkirk.
Falkirk is a nice town with the usual shops and plenty of independent and some chain cafes and restaurants. We went to Bob and Bert's cafe and Behind The Wall pub/kitchen. Both offered good vegetarian and vegan options .We visited Falkirk to take a ride on the Falkirk Wheel and visit the Kelpies. Both attractions were fantastic and not too expensive to do. We stayed at a lovely, small guest house in a family home called No 54.
Falkirk
Craignish Apartments were immaculately clean, and freshly painted. While the property doesn’t look like much on the outside, it made up for on the inside! The rooms were large enough to accommodate my family, and the kitchen included everything needed to cook a meal. The host provided coffee, tea, cookies and water for our arrival. Key was easily accessible through a lockbox. The Indian food at nearby Sanam Tandoori was delicious! This property is conveniently located nearby The Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies.
Falkirk
Excellent apartments, well refurbished and very well presented, ideal for short break or longer. Good facilities, clean bathroom and comfortable space. There is a very nice communal garden area at the rear. The apartments are well located, just a few minutes from J5 & J6 on the M9, a short distance from the Kelpies and Callender House and not far from the wheel. There is a good retail park just round the corner and the town centre is nearby. It makes a good base to explore this area of central Scotland.
Falkirk
The owners were two of the most interesting and friendly people. The gardens around the house are very well maintained. The location is quiet and comfortable. It is not in but near Falkirk. The owners drove one of the guests to Falkirk without a charge. Rather than go to a restaurant, the owners provided dinner for us. This is a great place for relaxing in the countryside and enjoying conversation with the clan chief and his lady about the Paisley clan. I highly recommend this place.
Great place to stay right in the town centre so close to all amenities. It looks as if it has been recently redecorated and everything was looking great. All amenities were great I was able to cook my meals and wash my clothes too. It was really clean and warm I couldn’t fault the place. Will definitely book to stay again when I’m back in Falkirk. Would recommend this apartment to anyone.
Falkirk
Staff was incredibly friendly and personable, and they made me feel very welcome. The restaurant and bar area served really good food at great prices, and the service I got there was honestly some of the most attentive I'd had in the UK.
We wanted to visit the Falkirk boat lift and the Kelpies at Helix Park and this hotel was between the 2. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room looked like it had recently been redone so was nice and clean.
Loved the shower bed was comfortable wished it was king sized. Staff were amazing closeness for Kelpies and Falkirk brilliant . Kitchen was really useful
Hotel bedrooms were a wee bit tired. Main areas and steakhouse were lovely. Spa was excellent
