Very comfortable, lots of space to chill out. Bed was great and shower was amazing - really hot and powerful. Had veg chilli for dinner which was delicious. Opted for a bacon sandwich for breakfast which comes with a hot drink, fruit juice, fruit and granola slice. Both meals amazing value for money! Staff were so accommodating. This charming family-run hotel is situated in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, just off the A82 and close to the banks of the famous Loch Ness. Breakfast was incredible due to restaurant been booked out did not get a chance to have dinner, based on my experience with breakfast not surprised the restaurant is always booked out.
Situated in Fort Augustus in the Highlands region, Appin House features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The bed and breakfast offers a continental or buffet breakfast. Alasdair was a friendly and helpful host that provided is with lots of information on local tourist attractions. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, bed was extremely comfortable, toilet has a fantastic spa style shower. The breakfast was lovely in the morning, would highly recommend a stay here!
It is small but well-placed at the southern end of Loch Ness. We were only travelling through, but it would be a good base for a short break. We ate at the hotel,so I don't know about alternative places. The canal is just by the hotel and we watched a boat pass through the loch gate from our room window.
It is a great base for walking holidays, particularly The Great Glen but other walks are available close by. There is a new Pizza restaurant in the town it is based in the Beaufort House B&B on Station Street. It has only been operating a couple of weeks but was excellent with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Well worth a visit!!
Fort Augustus was in the middle of terrific country side - so options to go back to Fort William or Carry on to Inverness ! We did travel to quite a few other townships and found more and more to look at. So Much more than we did. Ran out of time, needed two nights in the area.
Interesting location on Loch Ness, with attractions such as the boat trips. Also seeing the 5 lock staircase in operation was interesting. We ate at the Lovat Hotel.....outstanding cuisine but expensive.
Forgot to mention the welcoming bottle of complimentary wine and shortbread. Good starter supply of tea and coffee and sugar, small milk. A nice touch. Important to book meals out and activities as the pool in the complex very small, as were the games room and bar! Although last two didn' t need booked. Other outdoor activities need booking ahead too. Only a small Londis supermarket in the village but food can be ordered from Tesco. Not sure how well that worked as we brought our own food. Three fish and chip shops and pizza nearby so, easy for family to manage! Trips on the Loch by boat fun and a good way to save driving and see the scenery. Nessie monsters stories provided! Our photos wouldn't do it justice as the weather terrible this time. Despite that it was still enjoyable as long as you have winter gear at this time of year. Not a place to look for night life ( other than owls etc!)
Love Fort Augustus, beautiful scenery, friendly community with great pubs, restaurants & accommodation! Noble apartments are fabulous, in stunning grounds on the banks of Loch Ness. The building is phenomenal!
Alistair was so friendly and welcoming, he really added to the experience staying here. We booked 2 rooms for excellent value inclusive of breakfast (hot & cold options available). The rooms were spotless with high quality furnishings and fittings. Suitable for families or couples. The bathrooms especially were a favourite. Appin House was located well, 5mins walk to Fort Augustus town centre and with ample parking on site. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend for another visit to the stunning Loch Ness!
We stayed in the Loch Ness room which had 1 big bed and bunk beds for the kids. We had 3 big windows a view of the canal and a corner terrace with table and chairs. Clean and spacious room with a good bathroom. Very impressed with the room and organisation of it all. Fort Augustus is such a cool little village with lots of places to eat and plenty of small pubs. We cant wait to come back exploring, hopefully without the rain and covid putting a dampener on it all
I liked the treats in our room- porridge and cereal packs, teacakes, yoghurt and muffins! There was a good selection of hot chocolate, teas and a kettle. I liked the central lounge, I thought this was decorated lovely and very comfortable. It was a great location, so close to all the amenities of Fort Augustus. It was perfect for what we needed on our little tour through Scotland. There were some nice pubs nearby.
I loved the location on the edge of Loch Ness. The scenery was spectacular even when the weather was not so spectacular. The grounds and gardens were very well kept and the facilities were really good. The apartment was a home away from home with everything you could possibly need and was situated central to great pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions and general store.
From the moment we booked in to the moment we booked out, the couple that run the hotel were always cheerful and very helpful. We were greeted with tea, coffee and biscuits upon arrival. And the breakfast was enough to keep you going for most of the day, we were even offered croissants to take away for our journey. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
very warm welcome, whole house was superbly clean and breakfast was amazing. On our trip around Scotland this place was the best for sure. i will very well recommend to anyone who want to visit Fort Augustus. I must not forget to mention the beautiful fairy-tale garden ..... all around SUPERB *****
The location and setting of Fort Augustus is magnificent with great views down Loch Ness and the surrounding mountains. The Caledonian canal lock gates proved an interesting spectacle too. It certainly helped that we had glorious weather, blue skies and very hot for the time of year.
The pod was clean and cosy and the park is in a brilliant location just a few minutes walk from the centre of Fort Augustus. The staff were very friendly on arrival and showed us to our pod and made sure we had all the information we needed. We will definitely be back!
Very friendly staff in a great location overlooking Loch Ness. We walked in to Fort Augustus along the back road, which only took 15 minutes. We waited until early evening and the crowds had dispersed which gave us a pleasant visit.
A short, easy walk from the centre of Fort Augustus. A beautiful house, lovely room with a greatbathroom with a jacuzzi bath which was a treat after a long days hike. Breakfast was lovely. The host was a good communicator.
Nicely located, a bit up the hill in Fort Augustus, taking only 5 min down to the Canal from where Loch Ness cruises take off. Lovely rooms and hotel interior plus wonderful dinner & breakfast
