Fun night spent in the old jail cells. Tiny space so don't bring a big suitcase but great experience. En suite toilet & handbasin & personal shower space (external). interesting for a 70 year old to get onto the top bunk but I was prepared for this!

We had been led to believe that Fort William was a rather run down town, so we were pleasantly surprised at the number and variety of shops, not very many charity or mobile phone shops. The one area that does need a bit of improving is the pedestrian walk from the station/bus station to the High Street. We spent 2 days browsing the shops on the high street having taken a short train journey from Banavie on one day and a bus the following day. There are a number of restaurants, cafes, public houses to suit all tastes and my husband even had an excellent haircut at the Turkish Barbers by the Station! It is an ideal base for Highland exploration with a good train service to Mallaig and Glasgow. All in all a great little town.

The best points are steam train spotting around the Glenfinnan viaduct. Also many good hiking opportunities in the area including to the Steall waterfall where we parked in the Lower falls car park and hiked 1.5 hours each way to reach the falls.

It is the obvious place to stay to climb Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK. There are plenty of tourist shops and cafes, bars and restaurants to cater for the many tourists that arrive. A stroll along Loch Linnhe will get you away from the hive if that is what you want.

Fort William is a good base for visiting the surrounding area. The scenery is stunning. Ben Nevis and Glen Coe are on the doorstep. The famous steam train ride to Mallaig is unmissable. Fort William as a town is a bit basic, but it is well-equipped with what you need for a walking holiday!
Located by Loch Linnhe it is easy to walk into the centre of Fort William. The hotel is large and geared up for coach parties. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We chose to eat our dinner in the bar which has a welcoming atmosphere and the staff there were very friendly and helpful. The car park is at the front of the hotel which was very convenient.
The hotel was very good value for money and the breakfast definitely made it worth every penny. The staff Rose Anne and Vanessa ( didn't get the bar man's name )were very attentive. The staff also helped me to locate the tourism office to know which sights were worth seeing in Fort William. Rooms were very comfortable.
I can compare our stay as that of a 3-star hotel. The staff were accommodating and friendly. They were able to provide suggestions to queries about Fort William. The house and room were very clean and smelled lovely, including the fresh flowers along the hallway.
Hotel was really central, and staff went above and beyond. Room was modern and very comfortable. Loved the complimentary treats. Breakfast was fabulous and must not be missed! We will definitely stay here when we are next up in the Fort William area.
