Originally an 18th century mansion, Cally Palace is now a sophisticated golf hotel just 48 minutes’ drive from the market town of Dumfries. Breakfast was very good - nice choice from the buffet and cooked breakfast as ordered. Dinner in the restaurant again good choice. Menu changed every evening. Staff attentive, provided a high standard of service. Courses served with no delay.
Located in Gatehouse of Fleet, Woodlyn Guest House offers accommodations with free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as a tennis court and golf courses located within easy walking distance. On arrival, we received a very warm welcome and while being shown to my room, it was evident how highly spec'd, clean and pleasant the place was. On entering my room I was very please to see a spacious room with a very high quality finish. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. In the morning the breakfast was very good and the host, again, very friendly and welcoming.
Anabelle's Den is located in Gatehouse of Fleet and offers a terrace. The property is 14 miles from Newton Stewart. The vacation home also has a bathroom. Already been to one of the other cabins the year before so we knew we would love it! So clean and tidy on arrival. Lovely big bed, great shower and amazing hot tub, even in February it was amazing, we even had the sun a few days. We were gutted to leave and 100% will be booking again.

Located in Gatehouse of Fleet in the Dumfries and Galloway region, 79 Laurel Bank is a 3-star property featuring free WiFi. The property is 6 miles from Kirkcudbright. Lovely home. Had everything you need for a break. I imagine in the summer the garden will be an added bonus. Great location to explore the local area.
Small rural town which is quite picturesque and peaceful. Easy to walk around and there are a few places to eat but based on our experience it is essential that these are booked in advance (seems to be the way they operate). Our favourite was The Ship Inn. The nearby Cardoness Castle was closed at the time of our visit but having been before it's worth a look. It is possible to walk in the vicinity and woodland trails from the centre provide a pleasant stroll through the Cally Estate. Good base for visits by car to nearby Laggan Outdoor Centre (lovely cafe), Kirkcudbright, the Solway coastline and Mull of Galloway.
Gatehouse of Fleet is a place to relax & enjoy the simpler things in life. Lots of great walks in the countryside, bike trails, a beautiful golf course, beaches, fishing & historical places to visit. Friendly people & is dog friendly too. There is a Dark Sky Park for stargazing. Good places to eat. There is a small well kept caravan park for touring caravans, motor homes & you can also pitch a tent. A local bus service runs threw the main street.
Hotel was above expectations. The bedroom was excellent, very comfortable. The bathroom was absolutely wonderful with walk in shower and bath with overhead shower also. The staff were very friendly , and service was excellent. Steep stairs to the bedrooms though so difficult if mobility is an issue.
Lovely friendly small town with lots of amenities and attractions there or nearby. Mill on the Fleet: Garries Park Creetown: Newton Stewart: Castle Douglas: Kirkudbright. And plenty of beaches around too. We especially loved Mossyard. Lots to do and places are really easy to get to. We stayed at the Cally Palace - brilliant and dog friendly.
Nice little village. A good stop for a few minutes for coffee or overnight while travelling. The Ship Inn Hotel is great. Also the Masonic Arms at the other end of the village is a good place for a drink and probably food too although we did not eat there. There is an unusual but handsome clock tower too.
very helpful pharmacy! Excellent museum with book shop , craft gallery and cafe attached. Good parking and very pleasant little town - no litter and everything looked reasonably prosperous. It has easy access to other interesting small towns in the area.
From the start to the finish this hotel is enjoyably sorted out. Staggered breakfast, entrance and exit for social distancing. First time out in the public domain since lockdown. No worries at all. The staff couldn’t be more helpful. Well done to everyone of them who remained professional and proficient. The owner has done a lovely job of the refurb and is definitely ‘hands-on’ and cares for his guests and staff. Thank you
The superior room was huge and exceptionally clean. It has lots of light with large bay windows. The bathroom was excellent. It has a very big walk in power shower and a beautiful modern bath. It looked brand new. Super king bed and large wall mounted tv. It is a very short walk to the Main Street of Gatehouse of Fleet. Lovely breakfast both mornings of our stay.
This property has a beautiful location, a quick 5min drive from the village of Gatehouse of Fleet. The view is stunning. The cottage is well kitted out with everything you could possibly need for a short break. We lit the fire and enjoyed the freshly baked scones. Thank you to Lizzie and co - we will be back!
Lovely location, plenty of room for 2 families. My grandchildren loved using the pool at the hotel most nights and the walks on the estate. We had a really great time and found plenty of places to visit in the area.
The hotel staff were exceptional managing what was a challenging weekend due to a power cut following the severe weather. The food is excellent and the half board package great value for money
Very central with local shops hotels and pubs close by. Very clean with all essentials . Local beaches and walks and quiet cycle routes available.
Recent renovation makes the Masonic Arms very comfortable, staff are friendly and the room was excellent with a huge shower
Stunning view, very comfortable and clean
